I guess this goes here...

Anyway, I need to know the best FREE web site maker. The less ads the better. Needs to be able to allow me to overlap pics or at least text on pics. Also I need something really easy to use(like AOL pagebuilder...)and have a fair amount of options and space, with few limitations.

Hope that's not too much to ask for.

I'm currently on AOL pagebuilder, but it won't let me overlap pics, it takes forever to load, and won't let me input sounds or anything(well, with HTML it will, but I don't know HTML at all...it's like you're on your own). I've tryied 50megs, and while it sounds good, I couldn't get it to do what I wanted...Geocities is out cause I've had them before and I really don't like them.

BTW, I'm trying to make an exellent Mazda site(my current site was GT3 and Mazda, but it's drasticly out dated and my GT3 stuff was bare bones, so now that GT3 is sorta getting old, and there are plenty of great sites with GT stuff(ex GTP!), I've decided to dump the GT stuff(although I still love GT)and focus on Mazda...

Thanks for the help!

Didnt I say i would host you?

Just learn Microsoft Frontpage.

Yea I know Mista...I don't have Frontpage(unless it comes with XP...but I don't think it did), and to DL it would take forever(on KaZaA, the smallest size I've seen is like 28,000KB(28mb, on my 28kb/s connection...)...

It comes with Office XP.
You COULD use Notepad to do html. Take some lessons.

And get used to typing < insert tag here >

Well, I don't think I have office XP...

I guess I was just hoping of like an auto builder, you know, no HTML, just easy to edit and stuff...I guess that's what Dreamweaver and Frontpage do, but I'm broke(I have 15 bucks right now...)...I donno, I might just start DLing Dreamweaver or Frontpage and just let it go for a long time...

Tripod has an easy to edit page builder thing

Mista, which one is it? XP black final 2?

Thanks for your help Mista

ohh and Eddy, if I remember correctly, Tripod doesn't let you take images off your own site(puts the Tripod logo instead of the image), and I need to be able to take stuff off my site...

Go to macromedia.com and download dreamweaver MX it will last you 30 days (or I can provide a "Fix") and just use the layers.

oh, you can also use Microsoft word (from 97 on) to make webpages....

Deathhawk, it's too damn big for my connection...it's 48MB, and on my connection it'll take 3 and a half hrs...I can't do it...thanks anyway...

I'll just have to figure out something...

yeah, but how do you publish them, because I've got Word 2000

I don't know.. I have a retail copy of dreamweaver, so I have never used it... I can fool around and get back to ya.

ok, I shouldn't have submitted so quickly... anyway, just go to save as.. scroll down the file types untill you hit the html documen (.htm)

It saves as a functional website.

Mazkid,

Take a look on your computer that you've got now. You likely have "Front Page Express" built in there. Just go to START > PROGRAMS > ACCESSORIES > INTERNET TOOLS and see if you've got Frontpage Express.

It's a basic WYSIWYG editor (What You See Is What You Get) that oughtta suit your needs.

But, if you want to overlap text and images, probably your best bet is to find a copy of MS Publisher - it will allow you to do that, at the expense of file size.

nope, I don't have frontpage(in accesories or anywhere on the start menu, I don't even have internet tools)

So I'll just figure something out...maybe if I can find a cheap page maker at a store I'll pick it up...

ok. Go to controll pannel. and find add/remove programs. There should be an winodws programs tab. Select that. Then there should be a checkbox with internet tools there. Click on the checkbox and click apply.

it works with everything over windows 95

Dealthhawk, I have XP, and it's kinda screwy...it doesn't have tabs, just 3 buttons on the side:
Change or remove programs

Add new programs

add/remove windows components
__
the bottom one has check boxes, but not internet tools, and is not for the start menu...it's really wierd...

Wait, ok, just went into the start menu properties, and under the advanced tab is a list of what you can have on the start menu....internet tools is not there...

I don't think I have internet tools at all...I need to go out and buy some internet tools lol.
