I have been searching and trying and throwing all the money I have (which is not much) at trying to tune a winning K cup car with no luck. I am completely unfamiliar with ANY of the cars listed so I have no clue which one to purchase that will require the least amount of tuning to win. This is the only race left for me to gold on Beginner and I have already beaten most of amateur. SO FRUSTRATING!!! Please somebody tell me what car to buy. I'm losing my mind here!

If get silver, I think, on the B License you get given a Daihatsu OC-1 Concept car, which can be tuned and then used in the championship

I used the daihatsu copen active top 02, tuned it a little and beat the opponents easily. Even my rubbish b-spec joke of a driver eventually won those races with that car.

This applies to all races and is also how I go about the game as I know a bit about cars, but not enough...

1) Go in to beginner/amateur/professional/whatever and then select the event that you wish to compete in.
2) Once on the screen where you select the track there will be an option to view typical competitors in the race, they are listed with the most powerful at the top. Make a mental note of which car is the most powerful and it's power.
3) Go back to the track selection screen again and select your garage in the bottom right
4) Only the cars that are valid to enter the race will be listed on your 'premium' and 'standard' tabs, see if you have a more powerful car than those listed as typical competitors, if you have just use that.
4a) If you have a car valid for the race but not powerful enough, exit out and tune that car up so it's more powerful than the other cars (This saves you spending money on a new car if you already have one that is valid for that race).
4b) If you do not have a car valid for the race, find the most powerful car you can in the dealership/used cars from those that were listed as typical competitors, then tune it so that it is more powerful than the others
5) Enter race and win :)

Definitely the Cappuccino, maybe the Mazda AZ-1. The Cappuccino is an awesome car when tuned, and can have the racing modification applied... I've always liked the AZ-1, too.

Suzuki Cappuccino

I used that car also. Although this car will 'do the job' honestly that isn't the reason you should grab this car... grab this car because it is really fun to drive! I did everything possible to it (including wing and hood dealy) & had lots of fun throwing it around.👍

Cappuccino is fast enough tuned to race against "normal" cars....there is nothing like when the other cars are braking into a corner and you blast past them then hit the anchor to drift side way through.....

Hi gents, I do agree with you Fluk3, but, please find a comment that I've applied myself on several cases:

4a) If you have a car valid for the race but not powerful enough, exit out and compare the cost of the modification you forecast to do vs the cost of a native higher powered car. Sometimes, it costs more to tune a car to increase the power from 100HP to 160HP compared to buy directly a used car at 160HP! Plus, it is not only a matters of HP, a native 160HP will have better brakes, better chassis, and so one... If it is a good bargain then go for it! If not, just give up and go for 4b
4b) If you do not have a car valid for the race, find the most powerful car you can in the dealership/used cars from those that were listed as typical competitors, then tune it so that it is more powerful than the others

I didnt realize that the typical cars for a race were ordered most powerful to least powerful. That little tidbit is going to go a long way! Thanks so much. I just run out of money quickly when trying to tune cars and it takes forever to get that cash built up to try again. So obviously starting with the fastest possible car will save me time and money in the long run.

This. I just raced this car stock and won easy. For B-spec you will need to do some upgrade though.

I had this dilemma last night...not familiar with most of these cars, so I bought a cheap Suzuki Wagon R off the used car lot, threw on some Comfort Softs and won (you guessed it)....a Suzuki Wagon R.....:indiff:

The Suzuki Cappuccino is what I used, Most likely I just changed the oil added an ECU, air filter and maybe tires. I can't remember what came on it or what the race restrictions are but it was a piece of cake to win.

Exact same thing is true of the AZ-1, both great cars in their own right.

Ahhh yes but you forgot the WEIGHT factor. The most powerful is not necessarily the "best" a lighter car will out handle and out brake the competition. And let's face the AI drivers in GT5 are terrible in the turns, I've beaten them with dead stock cars that (in theory) are too weak to win. In fact its how I make grinding thru the races more fun... trying to win with the LEAST power.

Also remember the TIRES. If you fit better tires you'll easily out corner, out brake and get off the line quicker. Sure the AI might blast past you on the straights but you'll pass them in the next turn.

I'm working on database of HP/KGS of the cars for each race but I'm only at level 17 thus its far from complete: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?t=134893

What he said.

I think I had something else by the time Roger (B-spec) did it, but I used the OC-1 for my own run.

I know I have it but I haven't driven it yet. If it's anything like the Suzuki then I'll need to try it. It's nice that not only the supercars are fun to drive.
