What about the connect ? Do you have the broadband cable ? How did you make the hookup ?Originally posted by IceGT
for the PS2? Just get the sony one, it's not that hard to configure, just follow the on screen instructions that come with the start up disk, and you will need to have a memory card so you can save the settings.
Dont have a router/hub... just the modem an that splits from the input there to my network card an to my TV... So ya sayin I need a router to connect the PS2 an the puter thru the router into the modem, that bout the jist of it ?Originally posted by rjensen11
hook it up to either your modem or router/hub and it should be fine if you follow THE INSTRUCTIONS
That's how we have it. We have two computesr hooked up to a router(10/100 switch) and then it goes to the modem, then the modem goes to a splitter, which goes to the TV and to the wall.Originally posted by Masterblaster

Just went through an Linksys router install, an frankly its a piece of ****, wanted to have the ability to use the Laptop in the kitchen using the wireless connection .... The Linksys was supposed to have an range of at least 300 feet... What a joke that is... Only time did get an good signal was 5 feet from the base unit.... In the kitchen 100 feet away the signal is next to non existant...Originally posted by JAMMIT
40 to 50 bucks for a good wired one (linksys) 80 to 100+ plus for a wireless system. I have a Linksys router with a Linksys 4 port hub and my PS2 runs great.
this is how it works.
(normal set-up)
from the wall your cable tv coaxial cable plugs into the broadband modem
the broadband modem plugs into your computer.
your on-line.
(router set-up)
from the wall your cable tv coaxial cable plugs into the broadband modem
the broadband modem plugs into your router.
the #1 port from the router plugs into your computer
the 5 or more ports can be used to hook up 5 or more computers/PS2's/XBOX live
If your computer and router in one room and the PS2 is in another or upstairs or dowstairs you have two options.
1.) run all your computers on a wireless router system that way you don't have 100's of wires running all over the house.
2.) run one wire from the router to the other room or up/downstairs then plug the PS2 in, or if your extra room has the PS2 and another computer and/or and XBOX you can attach a "hub" to the plug you just ran and plug all 2 or 3 componets to the hub (the hubs run from 20 to 40 bucks)
used the gold plated cat 5.. an yes went through one wall same level of the house, was the reason for going wireless, an as I said at $200 for the router an card, you'd tend to expect better service from an cheaper unit... Had a hard nuff time getting Win XP to accept the config for the network.Originally posted by rjensen11
did you have the antenni pointed well? 100 ft is quite a distance when you have walls, too.... At less than 60 ft, we experienced troubles of getting dropped off, that's why we went from 802.11b to CAT5![]()
