New Beetle - New One Make Race Series

This will be a 4 round series with the races being run on the road courses used in the in game Beetle cup ( Rome, Grand Valley, Seattle 2, and Monaco) First three races are 2 lappers with the third a three lapper.

The Car of choice for this will of course be the New Beetle cup car, no modifications allowed so thats 212 bhp, semi racing suspension and T5 tyres.

This will be a 4 round series with the races being run on the road courses used in the in game Beetle cup ( Rome, Grand Valley, Seattle 2, and Monaco) First three races are 2 lappers with the third a three lapper.

Qualifying will be allowed to avoid AI issues and the races will have to be 100% clean.

ASM and TCS are banned.

Feel free to talk about any T times, setups etc.

Deadline for time submission 17th December 2003

PM your race records to me and I'll run a blind leader board without times to give an indication of how people are doing in the championship.

Ok. Can we adjust anything else that's adjustable on the car?
I may have to go back and re-run Rome. As I did with TCS at 1.
However, testing stage results:
Lap 1 T1 -- 40.270 Lap 2 T1-- 32.300
Lap 2 T2- 1'16.915 Lap 2 T2- 1'08.803

I would suggest turning off ASM (whether you can have it or not) as I bettered my full race time by nearly 3 Seconds with just my TCS down to 1.
I did qual runs for two reasons.
1. You said we could.
2. To see if I could be competitive and to run ahead of the crowd if I was.

My settings made "Silver" handle almost like a FR.

I dropped ride height in front to 95.
Rear shocks to 7
Front camber to 3.0
and Rear Toe to +2.0 (a little trick I learned from Famine.)
For initial testing I left the brakes alone, and the LSD is at stock settings. (Though that may have to change with the TCS completely off.)

I have two other Beetles in the wings for this. "Red" and "Green", For when Silver's HP starts dropping off.

I am wishing that I could have my favorite mod: Racing transmission.:lol:
 
I'm in, havent tryed my Beetle Cup out yet so here goes...
 
I've done race 1, I qualified to avoid getting caught behind the AI. And in testing that +2 toe wasn't as good as -1.0 which I have mine set to, might havve somthing to do with the way the rest of the suspensions set though.
 
The thing I'm doing to get the little bug around the corner is lifting off of the throttle, then getting back on hard once she's pointed close to the right direction.:D
I've cut nearly another whole second off my total time with the TCS completely off. It is a ***** getting a good take-off with all that wheelspin though.
 
ahh....the joys of lift off oversteer :D

Any part that can be adjusted may be tinkered with..apart from ASM & TCS which must be set to 0.

Oil changes are OK ;)

Dose anyone have a good L.S.D. setting for this car ?I'm using 5/5/5 now .
 
I'm using something like 10, 12, 20

Managed to shave a couple of seconds of my PB @ rome :D (splits soon)
 
Thanks grave trap I'm trying to bring down my Rome time now.I just wish I understood the L.S.D. setting better .:confused:
 
Double checked my LSD settings they are 10, 16, 10

Hucker696, I don't mess about with the initial settings to much, If the car understeers whilst accelerating out of a corner decrease the accel setting, If the car is understeering whilst on the brakes decrease the decel setting.

from what I understand IRL a LSD moves the torque produced by the engine between the driven wheels (the wheel with the most grip will get more of the torque)

Nobody actually completed all the races any way....I'll post the times I've got when I get half a chance.
