has enyone else been in a race lately and won only to be credited with second place ?

was just in a race online wher i won a nascar race by .3 seconds and then was given second place .
don,t know if this is a problem with PD's programing or has someone found out how to win every race they are in no mater where they finish.??

yes that happened to me but I won, me and my friend were laughing 5more laps round the 24hr nurb

I just posted about this... (happened last week sometime)

https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=6867425#post6867425

Well, one time last week, there were 2 of us, NO MICS, having a race with s800s (unmodified) on comfort medium tires, on a toscana custom track (RMC Toscana which is 6 miles long).

I closely followed the other car the entire twisty track, right behind him. I was never able to put in a pass, but I was in his draft the entire time. Never saw any lag or anything that looked unusual.

Getting onto the straight, I was still right behind him. I watched his car cross the finish line in front of me - I was completely behind him, not side.

WHen the results appeared. It said *I* had won the race in 1st.
:boggled:

Now what is that problem?

I certainly was NOT cheating!!!!!

Sorry, wanted to make that clear. I was just as perplexed :boggled: as the guy who went over the finish line clearly before me, when my win message appeared.

I asked him (John Wells) if he saw what I saw, and he said that he'd seen that happen before. So it wasn't that he really thought I did win, or saw something different than what I saw. He knew he was in front of me, he knew he won the race. Yet the results said that I was .8 second ahead of him finishing first. :boggled:

Game malfunction.

Bear in mind the timing will always be out surely owing to the nature of online racing? My position on track compared to another's may be a little different at any time owing to us having different connections. It's not cheating just a normal product of online racing.

Yes, but in the case I described, we both saw his car cross the finish line fully before mine.
This wasn't a case of the timing being off. It was the wrong car with the wrong time or something...

But maybe on his screen he crossed the line before you?

Yes, he crossed the finish line before me. He was in front of me.
We both saw this. His car crossed the finish line fully in front of mine.
Yet it registered me as winner in 1st place.

Clarifying: We both saw his car cross the finish line fully ahead of mine, but it called me as the winner in 1st place in the results screen, & my win message appeared.

I've also been seeing this. Sometimes a blackscreen before the start of the race is the cause.

I've also seen the placing results mixed up but the times proved who won. Normally it shows the winner then every one else is +.102, +.506, etc. I've seen it where the winner was +.304 and the 2nd and 3rd place was negative something or other. Can't remember how the payout ended up though.

I think this glitch occurs when your last lap time, is the best overall, and you finish, it becomes as a win somehow.. sometimes after last lap in online lobby, showed my name 1st and then in a second changed it to the right place (lets say 3d). maybe when it glitches GT dont have time to set accurate results.. dont know for sure but longer race finish delay seems to help, 50 sec. seems to be long enough..

What makes you say that? I mean I know you say you don't know for sure, but have you had this happen more often if the finish delay is at default?

The one time it happened (described earlier in the thread), the finish delay was likely at default 30 seconds.

Generally in scheduled races in our club, the timer is always set at maximum. But not generally during impromptu practicing.

I've had this happen twice, in both cases I won and it put me second, but the timing showed I was ahead by the right amount, like this example:

2nd: 12:15.027
Me: -0:04.532
3rd: +0:01.453

I had this happen when i'm on the X. 8 others doing nascar. It was pretty much a 2 car race since everybody was slow. i had won by 1.568 and it said i lost.......

I've had it happen a few times online, believe different tracks also.
I'm going to blame lag or some other connection issue when a close finish between 1st and 2nd.

Yep, that is what I was describing. We saw this last week.
