I know they said the platforum for the next Delta could be based on a 147GTA erm. I wonder what you lot think about its platforum mates.

gee, that new model makes the 1st generation one look beautiful.
although it is in a rally, dirty, italian sort of way.

It doesn't look anything like you'd imagine a next gen Delta to look like, it doesn't look completely crap but the Delta's a raw but sporty image and they need something that keeps thoes principals to replace it not something that looks like a modern Japanese eco hatch. Bear in mind though that thoes are jsut artists impressions and are based on an older Lancia concept, the new Delta will hopefully NOT look like that.

In my opinion the only correct way to resurrect these legendary names (Stratos, Delta etc.) would be to take the body of the old car and combine with to a modern chassis. The result would be a modern car with the legendary looks and name.

(Ford did quite well with the Mustang though)

Imo you have to change the design when you make a new generation of a model, if it looks better or not is a matter of opinion but the design still needs to evolve eigther way.

I thought this thread was gonna be about a new Oldsmobile Delta 88... 👎

If I hear the name Delta the Oldsmobile Delta only pops into my head if I then hear, not the Lancia one..

So is the Murano going to be the new trendy style?

Like the 350Z was for the short amount of time?...

This looks similar..

The Mitsubishi Sportsback looks almost identical..

next...The Cadillac Eldorado.....Hatch/wagon/Murano

OH MY GOD, NO!

The original Delta is one of my all time favorite cars. It's a masterpiece.

This, however...it's just ABSURD! DESTROY.....DESTROY!!!! Once my tablet arrives, I am designing the TRUE delta sucessor. The delta made squares look beautiful. Round is anti-delta.

EDIT: Oh my god, guys. You got me so worked up. Read this:

Despite the secrecy surrounding the new Lancia Delta project, many recent artists’ impressions have automatically drawn styling cues from the well received Lancia Stilnovo concept car presented at the 2003 Barcelona Motor Show.

It's a stilnovo concept. THANK YOU GOD!

I like the look, but yeah, it doesn't look like a Delta. :ill: Maybe a strong performance will back up the looks(maybe).

While they'll never do it, that would be awesome! :D Cars that looks like they are decades old's gonna drive like new, and body parts will be dirt cheap. Can you imagine the car's hood(bonnet) part number being same from 1980 to 2005?

oye, why dig up old names

living up to heritage is hard to do

but besides that. strip it of the name and i think it fits perfectly fine with the current lancia design langauage and even pushes it further to the next step. atleast it aint retro. the fulvia concept woulda better for production

The Delta was a horrid little 5 door boxy hatch - why is everyone getting so excited about it?

The Intergrale on the other hand was a fantastic, rally-bred supercar baiter. If Lancia decide to remake a Delta Intergrale that would be great, but a standard Delta is on the same level as a Fiat Punto - hardly the stuff of dreams.

Murano clone indeed...it also looks like it was laid by Godzilla. egg shapes drive me nuts.
I expected something that looked like the current Punto...not an egg.

This is what I've seen:

My source.. Talk is mostly about how the car gets it looks from the Fulvia concept, as well as the rest of the Lancia line-up, and that it's most likely drawn by Flavio Manzoni.

Also, estimated release: 2007. Will most likely get optional 4WD and share all of its powerplants with Alfa Romeo, including the multijet-diesels.

Duh. Who assosciates the Delta with anything BUT the HF integrale?

I see what you're saying, though. So that leaves us with the question of will it be just a delta, or are they designing a new HF?

I'm guessing people like TheCracker who live in markets where Deltas were actually sold and who see them on the streets would.

...Okay, fine, good point. Haha.

It looks okay, and is a fine follow-up to the Delta... if they make an Integrale version, they ought to make it look ten times better. Lose the BMW-style headlights, clean that panel intersection up front. Sharpen the edges for that trunk, put some drama into it. I see the potential in that butt (with some sharper lines), but in that concept, it's too boring.

God. Damn the guy who started this "retrobadge" craze. When I talk about the Delta HF Integrale, it would be nice for it to be clear what car I'm talking about... :indiff:

But if they use this to lauch cheaper versions of Alfa's 147 series... including those Alfa engines... at a cheaper price, it'd be worth it. 👍

👍 :sly: - even the Intergrale was unreliable and expensive to look after - 5-6000 mile service intervals anyone?!

The original Delta Integrale was built to homologate the hyper-successful rally cars in the early Group A days. If Lancia do build a new Integrale version of the Delta it'll unfortunatly be no more than a cynical marketing ploy. The Intergrale was the legand that it was because of the motorsport program that drove it's development. Without the motorsport influence the Intergrale is irrelevant. An HF Turbo version, not pretending to be something it isn't could be interesting.

The Lancia name was destroyed in the UK during the 80's and 90's. A run of rust-prone, unreliable and totally uninspiring cars saw to that. The Intergrale was the only Lancia that really sold in big (relatively) numbers - and it was LHD only! A new Delta might be Lancia's way back into the UK market, but there are a lot of good medium/small hatchbacks on the market - it will have to be good to be successful.

THAT explains cracker's attitude...kinda sounds like the rep held by non german imports in the states...total crap

If I owned a car like that I would expect it, I do 5000km (roughly 3200mile) services on my Skyline.

I bet you expect your car not to breakdown between services though!
