As we all may agree, the endurance races missing from GT6 is a big shortcoming. Many speculate that it will arrive with B-spec style racing options.

My suggestion for Enduro's.

Create them as special events INSTEAD of career mode, or as they did with the Red Bull Races.

As an example I will take the 24 hour of Le Mans:

Have an entire menu option for 24 hour of Le Mans.

Within the menu will be these options, but will have a sequential completion requirement.

Race 1: Qualifying - Simple, certain lap times specific to car choice (LMP1/2, GT 1/2). Once the car has been qualified, only minor tuning alterations could be allowed (power limiter, tires, LSD, etc. but excluding purchase of engine and weight upgrades.
Race 2: First 6 Hours - Grid start based on qualifying runs. When completed, game takes note of position and total laps, to end, must pit.
Race 3: Second 6 Hours - Exit pitstop with save equivalent to GT5 version of "suspended races" with places and split times in-tact.
Race 4: Third 6 Hours - Self-explanatory.
Race 5: Final Stretch - the all-inclusive finish of the 24 hours of Le Mans.

To enhance this experience further, when B-spec is introduced, build a racing TEAM. Perhaps this is as easy as just creating drivers and adding them to your team or as complicated as actually having to recruit and level racers. Then, require the standard driver changes as in real endurance races, but allow the player to make the choice between AI driven section or Player driven section.

Another major difference with this to GT5's enduro races is that the save between 6 hour increment ability would allow the player to run the first 6 or 12 hours and then go compete in seasonals and other events before returning. This was a huge drawback for me in 5 because I was only willing to put 1 hour if that of play in per day and it would take me over a month to complete a 24 hour race. Thus I would miss out on competing in leader-board based time trials as well as being able to take a break and run a time trial of my own somewhere.
