Firmware 2.60 has just been anounced on the PS Blog, nothing big ubt a very interesting photo app has been added, no doubt a full list of features will be up shortly, if you see them please post them here.

So far theres the new photo app, newdivx suport and access to the store for non PSN users.....not sure how or why that last ones been done? unless you can now access it from a PC? again very little details available.

Guest access to PlayStation Store – This enables non-PlayStation Network members to browse through the storefront to check out the latest games, demos, videos, etc.

DivX 3.11 support – Videos in this format can now be played on PS3. <-- wohoo

New Photo Gallery application to be installed on the XMB. It's got tools and other functions which allow you to organize your pictures. It also has a slideshow feature. <-- wohoo

Well there you go

Also has a video in the blog post

Looking forwards to the new divx support, I have a few videos that come up with unsupported data, yet others work fine - all are the same file types and i'm pretty sure they all use the same codec...

I wander how well the photo application will work for me - I have over 3000 pictures on my PS3 and thousands more (literally) on DVD and CD discs )I have a tendency to save any picture I like - just can't kick the habbit)...

the search functions on the photo album look intreguing, you can search for facial expresions such as smileing? How? I wonder if you will be able to make a slideshow and save it to a USB stick. no doubt we'll find out soon as sony tends to anounce these things days rather than weeks before there released.

Guys we already have an update thread 'stickied' at the top of this board, which already has details of the new update in it.

Locking this one I'm afraid.

Regards
