This is a new glitch and i have searched the forums for anything of this and found nada.
This glitch has not been reliably reproduced, but is troublesome. I was running all of my cars on practice laps at N'ring when i was going to start the practice lap of my 12th car, I couldn't control my car, it was in b-spec mode but it couldn't steer the car. I thought i clicked on the wrong button and exited the race and tried again, the same thing happened i was in b-spec mode but no control!
I exited the race and chose a different car and it was the same even on another track!. I wound up quitting the game and resetting the PS2 and things was back to normal.
let me know if anyone else has had this problem.

Maybe i wasn't too clear on this, I did click on the A-SPEC button (the one all the way to the left with the steering wheel, not the one with the headphones!) and the game went into B-SPEC mode but couldn't steer itself!, nor could I. This was like this for different cars and tracks so i reset game and everything was back to normal.

What? You're saying you can't control your car in B-Spec mode?

Try rephrasing just a little better, cause that's what I'm getting out of what you said.

The only glitch I've had that's similar to this is in A-spec mode, I'm driving, and my controller just stops responding to anything I do. Can't steer, can't throttle up, or brake. It may be a GT4 glitch, OR it may just be my controller or controller port beginning to screw up.

But, of course you won't be able to steer your car in B-spec mode. That's the AI driving for you.

Are you saying that B-spec "Bob" won't even turn? That must suck. 👎

Happens to me a lot. I'm pretty sure that its a controller problem. Is the controller that is screwing up old or new? If its old then its from the usual wear and tear. Also, sometimes the third party controls (especially the ones with fans) tend to stop working much faster. I suggest getting a new one and make sure it is a Sony (or Logitech) DS2, not those cheap crap ones that glow in the dark or have fans (I had one of each; both shorted out and gave me a charred hand :ouch: )

Can you clear up whether you're talking about A-Spec or B-Spec. A-Spec is where you drive the car, B-Spec is where you're the "race manager". You won't be able to control the car in B-Spec mode...

I think you may have them mixed up. :)

Thats weird....I have had controller problems in the past, so i cant steer in a-spec, but changing to b-spec and 'b-spec dude' not being able to drive....thats *****d up. :scared:

I've had the same result from a half-unplugged controller cable.

Was the analog light blinking at the time when this happened?

Ive read about this glitch before on this forum, maybe they got to the bototm of it, i didnt follow the thread. It's never happened to me though, so i cant offer any advice. Also, you should find it insulting that ferrari chris presumed you'd gotten the two mixed up!! I can only pray he was joking.

This same thing happened to me. I posted about it in the GT4 Bugs thread, and since then I've heard two other people with a similar story.

I ran into a funky quirk in GT4 the other night: I'd done some GT Mode stuff, then backed out to the main menu to do some arcade Time Trial. I chose the George V track, and the Alfa 155 Race Car, went into quick tune, then chose A-Spec. The race started with the autopilot driving, but the B-Spec race display was on.

When the game got to the point where it should hand the driving to me, the car just coasted into the wall and stopped. My DFP couldn't control the car, but it was spinning and pulling feedback from it. The B-Spec display was still on, but B-Spec was not driving. I tried it with a couple other car/track combos and got the same results, but a reset put everything back to normal. I suspect the game just got a couple 1's and 0's mixed up - no biggie. Anyone else see anything like this?

B-Spec the Le Mans 24 hours in the Chevy Camaro LM Race Car. With about 40 mins to go, watch the hilarity as all cars start going around 60km/h the whole lap. No idea why it happened, so I went into A-Spec and had a 40 minute lapping fest. Was great.

Haven't tried again.

That sounds like they ran out of gas ... :D

It's a fairly old controller. It's the original one that came with my PS2 from like, 2 years ago or three or whatever. So I think that may have something to do with it. I hope it's not the actual port in the PS2 itself though. But I have another DS2 that I don't even use, so I may switch to that one if it does it anymore, which it hasn't in several weeks. And I never buy anything "aftermarket" for my PS2, if I buy controllers, it has the Sony name on it, same goes for memory cards.

Hit there jrbabbitt!

The exactly same happened to me too (and almost caused me a stroke :scared: ) I also wrote about it in the bugs thread. Compared to how much I test and try to improve my times, it is strange that it has not happened again..
(I use DFP)

i thought i'd add another glitch i found
after running the Deutsche Touring car championship (for the 9th time) mainly for the high priced prize car, i noticed a big glitch on the first race (opera) i believe there are two start/finish areas on this track? (correct me if im wrong) but instead of the start finish being in the usual area, i ended up finishing just after the long straight and even though i was third place when i crossed it, it still showed me as 1st!
any feedback would be appreciated

I got that too during a qualifying event....Got it back, but I'm guessing it has to do with my controller since its over 3 years old.
