Anyone buy one yet? ;)

This car is really growing on me. I saw the new ABT GTI the other day.....damn.

*EDIT*

Anyone know the performance potential of these?

GTI has the 2.0T wit 200HP stock. I know chipped puts it up in the 230-240 range. Turbo will probably get you up to 300+, but is gonna be laggy.

 That car is, is ...BAD i want one now! 👍

Anyway i dont own one, their quite expensive cars in the UK compared to other sports hatchbacks.

But one of my neighbours does, he has one in blue and it looks very good.

One of the few FWD cars I'd consider buying. I can't wait until we get the new Golf and new GTi in North America.

But it weighs more than my 1982 Commodore.. They can keep it...

The motor really is something. It's the same one as the 2.0 FSI Turbo on the A3 and A4 right? Does the GTI have the DSG like the A3? That thing is also quite a piece of work. I looked around on some A4 forums and a reprogramming can yield some excellent results, giving more horsepower with better fuel efficiency without sacrificing smoothness. That sounds a little too perfect though, I'm a little skeptical.

I really like the new Golf's styling and I would get one if they didn't come out till January. I don't want to wait that long to get a car. However the TDI version will be pretty sweet since it will offer a lot more power.

But on the GTi if the gas mileage didn't suck, and they weren't so fast* I would get one.

*I can't own anything fast since I will get owned with tickets.

the new golf GTI is a real slick looking car, i sat in one of them at the geneva motorshow and i must say there are alot of similarities with the first gti, like the grill and the seats...this car had the new DSG gearbox and it changes better and quicker than a ferrari or lamborghini paddle shift box, as a result it will get from 0-60 mph quicker than you would in a manual car.(0.2 secs quicker to be precise)...i would love to have one :) ...though i heard they'll be making an r32 soon

By the way Blazin, when is the TDI showing up??? Glad to see you decided on getting one. I think you'll be very pleased with it.

Right after someone buys my truck, I'm having a helluva time seliing it. The VW dealer offered me something really low for it, $7000 and it's clearly worth at least $13,000 so I thought 12 would make a good number, hell I'll take 10.

When you get your golf will you change your username to GolfXtreme?:sly:

Actually I'm probably going to change it to Corrdia.

At first I didn't think much of the new GTI but when I saw it up close I got completely hooked. It looks so much more awesome than the regular Golf and the interior is completely different too.

I haven't driven it yet though, but it has gotten great reviews.

I currently own a Polo GTI which I'm thinking about getting rid of. The Golf GTI would be a natural next step, the problem is that it's bit expensive for me. Maybe I can afford a used one in a year or two.

What do you guys think about the price? I guess there are variations on every market but Golf's usually cost more than similar cars. In Sweden where i live the Civic Type-r and Focus ST170 cost far less that the new Golf GTI.

Yes i would agree. When I first saw the golf on paper the first thought that hit me was "pshh, girls car". Then I knew it was wrong when I saw one in person. It really makes the IV look like cheap plastic, inside or outside.

Brand loyalty suggests that I'd like a Mk5 Gti but personal feelings tell me that I'd like a Clio Sport 182 Cup. I really wish that VW would make a stripped out Gti, more akin to the older ones. 2 door only, fiddled engine managment and more boost for 220hp, stripped out interior. Mmmm
