New GT3 Online Database?

Oh, btw, I clicked on the Acura link, and there's no picture... just a little red X...
 
Yup... that's true... that's because there's a reference to the picture but no actual picture yet. Keep in mind folks that when you check the site out there's a good possibility of non-functioning pictures and links because it's a work in progress right now. Keep an eye here (or somewhere in the forums anyway) and on the news page of the database and you'll know when areas of the database are complete. :)
 
so far so sweet cullyn if your interested in having a game saves section let me know ive got a few floating on my pc :) for example every car buyable or every car you win both saves all cars un modded no oil change with 0 miles :)
 
Not a bad idea at all once I get around to it. There's quite a few sections that I want to get working first before I start worring about game saves and hybrids (which I want to include). One thing I would like to ask folks tho is this: How do you want to search for a car?

I plan on allowing to search by name, manufacturer, country, drivetrain, race, HP... can anyone think of other methods to search and sort by?
 
Style of car> I.e. LM or formula 1 or just a regular car. Although just typing that sounded complicated so ou could try race and non-race cars. I had a look at this and it is probably the best idea i've seen on a GT3 board for a long time, credit to you.

Hey Cullin,

Good Start. I actually has started something like that at one point myself but found that numerous people has beaten me to the punch in all of the FAQ's and things that you can just download form the web. Granted most of them aren't very pretty and such, but it's a good idea. I had a really cool website that I put together for it, but I got discouraged quickly. I'll see if I can track down the file and send it to you.

Anyway, if you would like some help, I am a very avid Web Designer / Programmer. What format are you making the database? I.E. SQL, MySQL, Access, etc.... And what format are you making the interface, ASP, PHP, HTML, etc.

If you would like some help in designing it, just ask, I would be happy to help.
 
How about a search by price? ive seen a lot of people ask about which car to buy with there hard earned earnings and then maybe in an opinion and opinions only which car is the better buy for the price? just some ideas to throw out there

Price is a good method to search by... I'll havta add that one certainly. I've been thinking about a moderated opinion section... but I'm kind of leaning away from that simply because that's what these forums are for.

As to the site specifics, it's a PHP/MySQL based page and I can probably use some help later on but at present I'm doing alright. When I get the core code in place I probably will want some ideas for overall appearance and design because right now I'm not totally happy with the way it looks. So if you want to work up some design ideas Paradox I'd be more than happy to look at them. Code I'm okay... design... not so okay. :)

Well, let's see. I haven't had time to work on it as much as I'd like lately but I should get some work done this week and weekend. Anyway, events are starting to get placed and I'm starting to try to add some more cars. The admin side of things is pretty much finished for now so adding cars and races will be much quicker. I do need to check my numbers as far as the upgrades section goes because I'm not coming out with the same HP as max as I do in Klandrader's HP Faq. I would attribute that more to my numbers that I'm pulling from than any error in the FAQ. I'll give an update on that once I get a chance to sit down a little bit with GT3 and a calculator. :)
 
ok i got you on my faq max hp includes the oil change hence the difference in numbers? it will usually be within 10-30 hp according to the car. For ex, Acura Integra Type R Oil change Increases HP by 9 I got 387 You got 378. I can Do an Updated Column without oil change and send it to You :)
 
Exactly... I'm actually working from the oil change HP but still coming up way short. It's probably due to the fact that the numbers I'm using to figure out the upgrade rates are wrong. I'm pulling the numbers from the MK hybrid program... for example a racing chip on a specific car gives a 103% boost. So I just take the HP and multiply it by 1.03. What I think though is that that 103% isn't always acurate to where I need it to be.

I haven't had a chance to really check that but what I'm going to do is basically, purchase a car... for example the Acura Type-R that I do have on the site... then go through all the upgrades that involve HP and see what the differences are. Not buy them persay, but just see what the HP difference is. I'll need help with that if I'm right and I have to get all the things manually and I'll make a quick form that ppl can use and email me or something. But I probalby won't get to check that till Sunday at the earliest... but I'll keep ya updated. :)
 
got ya yeah if there was some kind of form... it would make it easier to fill in the blanks so to speak. One more thing though mk's prog is from finland right? just wondering if the hp difference is from being in different regions also????
 
Yeah, I'll probably make a quick PDF that we can use for all the cars. Thing to remember is there's a ton (literally) of info here... so you can only really put all the info for one car on one page... makes it interesting indeed. :)

As far as the theory about why my numbers are different... that's closer than anything that I can think of I imagine. :D Oh well... the weekend is here so hopefully I'll get something done further on the database. Remember to check it out... or at least what's there so far... and leave any suggestions here in this thread.
 
I checked them out and I'm not sure if I'll use them or not. It's a bit confusing and I'm not quite sure how the cars are ordered. I'll probably end up having folks and myself go through and get what I need (like klandrader did for me to test it... thanx!)

But I really do appreciate the heads up and I'm going to need folks to help me with that as much as anything else. :)
 
like i said cullyn ill help any way i can even if i have to meet you somewhere :) i only live about 1 hr away maybe 1 1/2 :) afterall 2 heads are better than 1 :0

well cullyn updated hp sheet added oil change + xx hp so 200hp+ oil change say 9 = 209 hp however only changed final max hp so car is maxed without oil change hope that helps a little
