New GT3 Video ("stunts" and powerslides)

Hey you guys, Im a new member here, and after browsing the forums, i decided to post a video I just made to see what you think. Is only 2min35 and weighs in at 26.2 megs.
The video mainly comprises stunts and powerslides (drifting) but i use those terms very loosely because you cannot really do stunts in GT3, they are just funny replays, occurances, incidents etc. The drifting are actually my first few trys so please dont be too critical, its mainly for entertainments sake (although the one with the charmeleon blue Tuskan Speed 6 is mad - totally stock car with med-soft tyres).

Im a moderate player so dont expect life-changing driving but never the less, there are many camera angles, a rockin soundtrack and amusing clips crammed into under 3 mins.

I download it but the video stops after 9-10 seconds than I hear only Foo Fighters :banghead: :banghead:

I think that means you don't have a new enough version of DivX installed.
 
I have v5.11!

And if I have old vers of divx why it starts for a few secs and than stops? :confused:
 
Nicely done. I think thats one of the funniest F1 vids out there. (Referring to the wall trick)

Maybe thats why, your 0.6 versions ahead of the producers, the actual people who make DivX :lol:. You need DivX 5.0.5

My one with DivX 5.0.5 has the video freeze for a few seconds, but I think the file was encoded like that, the video comes back on after about 3 seconds.

No worries Andrew, although i recon the quality must be a lot lower at 8mb. The pause is strange, the frames are there if you click on the playertime line, it works fine. I rencoded many times, with the same problem, so i thought it was just my comp
 
I reencoded the whole video at a 2 Pass CBR of 320 and the Audio of ABR56 and the filesize is 8.54mb - there are no pauses whatsoever now if it is played, and the quality is still very good.

Please Excuse the poor music used in my video - just that the Mada looks like the Initial D FD3S - so I used some J-Pop :p.
 
I have tons of bad ass replays, just no way to put them on my computer. By the way I think that the GT1 racecar would be better for that wheelie trick :P
 
What codec (along with settings, if available) did you use Andrew? DivX 4 produce very bad quality movies for me
 
I use the Kazaa Lite codec pack (I don't think I'm allowed to say the site though) which has a load of codecs including DivX 5.0.5 Pro. I use a program called VirtualDub-MPEG2-AC3 1.5.4 to do the video encoding, the Razorlame GUI for the MP3 compressor Lame and Nandub to merge a variable bitrate MP3 file (all those programs are freeware).

It may sound like a lot, but after the first few times you do it, it becomes very easy, I will make a guide and put it on my homepage for people to download with screenshots of my settings etc.
 
I use virtual dub 1.4d with 3 pass encoding at 1300kb/s (doesnt acutally turn out that much at all) then seperately encode the soundtrack in CDex as 128kps Riff wave file then combine and interleave them in audiodub. I really dont know why the file pauses, ive tried everything. Funny thing is (for me at least) it always pauses at different times.
 
Yeah i saw your video andrew. I didnt think the quality was too great. If you watch the car edges the macroboxes are real visible. Its definately watchable, but i always pride myself in higher video quality.

You obviously like your photoshop effects too =P
 
I used Ulead MediaStudio Pro 7 for the effects, I didn't like Adobe Premier much, but I still don't know how to use properly, other than to make simple transitions at the moment.

As for the quality of the video, I usually never encode below 905 kbits with at least a 352x288 (VCD) resolution, but I prefer a small filesize of around 7mb rather than 20mb+. I'm not sure why your video freezes, but when re-encoded with DivX 5.0.5 pro it worked fine, maybe aim for a 640x480 resolution @ 25fps?

One other thing about DivX, in your start menu goto the configure DivX playback codec and set the quality slider bar fairly high and also under the quality settings, you may want to enable Smooth Playback and Overlay Extended Mode (this applies to anyone who has not done so, because some videos are notibly better when watched like this).
 
Also I only captured at 320x240 resolution originally and that had huge black boarders which I had to trim, my graphics card doesn't like big resolutions when capturing and will drop frames at above VCD resolution :( :banghead: So I was forced to capture the video at low quality and then bytime I removed the boarders, the resolution went down even further, if it was double, the those pixels which you mentioned probably wouldnt look so bad or be quite as noticeable.

By the way I must apologise to you DaRK MaCHiNE as I only just realised I didn't comment on your video :eek:, just want to say that I thought it was good and I hope to see another one someday :D.
