New GTP Web App

Hi,

I really like the new design and am anxious to check out the functionality of the responsive design etc.

One thing that is bothering me is the new Web App. I use an android device and at the moment the App is not designed to function as a free standing entity. What I mean by this is, when I click the app from the home screen, I am being prompted to select how I would like to open the file (I don't like to click always for websites as I like the pop up browser as an option).

Will it be updated so that it runs out of my chrome browser? I hear that's possible but I am not a developer so I could be wrong.

Thanks

It's just a shortcut to launch the site in your default browser - there's nothing I can update or change.

Due to the open nature of the Android platform, I can't really give you any specific advice about the best way to configure your device, but GTPlanet follows the most widely published bookmarking standards so that an icon will be used in whatever context or browser where you want the shortcut to be displayed.

I think what you mean is indeed possible, but it's not something Jordan can do, as he states.

First of all, make a bookmark for the forum, in the stock browser, and do as described under Android devices here. That should give you a shortcut on your home screen like this:

Once you click it, something like this should pop up:

Simply mark Chrome, as shown below, and click "always".

Now once you click the shortcut, it should very well open up in Chrome. :)

Edit: Sorry for all of the images being in Danish, but it should be understandable and/or similar looking.

Thanks for the tip. Using the native browser, I was able to make shortcut where the icon is as shown above and not a white page with logo in the center. I don't want to click 'always' as there are times where I like to use the pop up browser so I am left with no choice but to select how I would like to open the link each time.

Came across this -https://developers.google.com/chrome/mobile/docs/installtohomescreen - was hoping it would function lile this but totally understand it is not doable.

Thanks again for getting back to me and can already say I am loving the new community. Notifications are awesome.

Cheers
