New GTR race: HELP/Discusion

Has anyone gotten 2nd or better? I got 5th could have had 4th but hit the wall I don't even want to bother trying again just for 3rd or 4th. For me 2nd is going to be out of the question with this vehicle. I am guessing the RWD GTR is the answer but that is expensive and only pops up once in a while in the auction. I am currently trying this on the GT-R V - Spec II Nur (R34) '02 w/489hp @1264kg

Anyone else gotten closer to the 1100kg? Again I am guessing this is going to take that one off RWD GTR
 
Tried this earlier in the same car, the R34 you've got, and I couldn't do it, even with huge setup changes and everything maxed out in terms of tuning - best I could manage was 2nd, still 13s away from the GT40.

Try it with a GTR VSpec, the new model, and it becomes a lot easier; ended up going from 13s down in the R34 to winning by 4s in the GTR. Hope that helps.
 
The Nissan GT-R '07 works well. DO NOT do an oil change if you buy it new. Just put on the smallest exhaust upgrade and do all weight reductions. A sport suspension and top of the line tranny and your ready to get the gold

This is a tremendous help. I can't detune the '09 GT-R I already have, so I was curious about the Spec-V. Didn't want to buy another '09 if I didn't have to.
 
Do you get prizes (money, XP etc) every time you do these seasonal events?
 
I managed to win with the Skyline R34 Spec-V Nür. It was tough as hell, but a great challenge! Already had a GT-R SpecV tuned up to 600bhp so I wanted to do this with another car.

I did it with skid recovery force on, but it can be done without it as well. I was only 1.999 seconds away from the Ford GT in my best attempt without skid recovery force.
 
I won this on the second try using a GTR V Spec '09. I used all the Body Upgrades, Fly wheel/Clutch stuff and bought the right tires. It's a really fun competitive race tbh, and was really proud of myself haha, even saved the replay. I overtook the GT40 on the second last corner of the last lap.
