I noticed when I first came to enjoy Enthusia, I found this subsection, but it was so unused. People barely post here, so I thought I'd ask what you think of this.

Format: (stole format from current WRS)

Enthusia WRS Week 1!

Here it is. The first WRS race in the Enthusia Subforum. I chose a similar combo as the first of the GT4 races. The car is a Nissan Z, just like the GT4 first race, and the track is a hilly, twisty mountain course, like El-Capitan. Enjoy!

Week 1: Nissan Fairlady Z Version S (Z33) @ Autumn Mountain

>>>{PIC OF EVENT}<<<

Game mode :
Time Trial / Autumn Mountain

Car specifications :
Fairlady Z Version S (Z33)
  • Full Tuning Level;
  • any driving aids ;
  • any transmission;
Race rules :
Standard clean OLR rules :
  • 2 wheels on track at all time ;
  • any tarmac, concrete or cobblestone area is part of the track.
  • no contact with walls or fixed objects, visible or invisible ;
  • NO BLACK FLAGS!!!
Thread rules :
The following info cannot be discussed in the thread (they can however be discussed on chats or by other means) :
  • lap time ;
  • any information which can be used to infer lap time.
Submission :
All submissions must be sent to me by PM (who ever decides to take this spot).
  • you can submit only once per race ;
  • please include in your submission PM your division, name and time ;
  • deadline is 7 days after we decide on everything 9pm GMT (L.A. 1pm, New-York 4pm, London 10pm, Paris 11pm, Tokyo wed. 6am, Sydney wed. 8am).
Time verification :
Save your replay and keep it at least a full week after the time has been submitted.
  • fastest times each week will be required to submit with verification ;
  • any submitted time is subject to a time verification request ;
  • when a time verification has been required, the concerned racer must provide a replay before next race deadline ;
  • failure to do so will result in the submitted time to be removed for the WRS results and/or GTPlanet Times Database ;
  • video replays are not accepted, only .max, .xps or .sps files can be verified.
  • you should post the replay in the results thread.
I really doubt I could set this up, or be the race manger or anything, so someone would need to volunteer, although I could post the first race if you wanted me too. Tell me what you think and your suggestions, this forum needs more trafic, and this is an idea I had. Perhaps we could do it with other games as well! 💡

Anyway, what do you think?

Well .... I would love to participate in a racing series, for sure!
The only problem is that I might have not too much time, depending on how much I have to do for my exams ... and there's one thing I don't understand completely, it's about the time verification via replay-files.

Where can I get such a device that let's me transfer files? If it's too expensive, short on money right now (well, WHO isn't?), I can't participate, that's for sure...

Hi Minicooper, i think this subforum it's interesting. I like very much enthusia, and also challenge with other drivers in this game. Some months ago i made few laps in the dragon range time attack ranking, it was great but it's also nice challenge in other tracs. Today i played few minutes and the best lap i made was 1'15"485. I hope some other will join this subsection. Tomorrow i'll try to beat my best lap... please tell me your actual best lap. Bye bye!!!

The normal standard used in the GT4 Weekly Race Series is the AR Max, which allows you to copy replay files (or any PS2 file) to a datastick. They can then be posted here and the race stewards can download them and check that they are clean laps and that the time is valid.

You seem to have missed this part of the original post

Which kind of makes you're submission invalid under normal GT4 WRS rules.

Overall I have to say that I am quite surprised this has not developed more interest, given the number of people who like Enthusia here at GTP.

I for one am seriously interested, not that I would even be close to the fastest, but it should be fun.

A quick point regarding the original post (as it does appear to have been cut and pasted from the WRS thread in part), you mention 'divisions' which do not currently exist for this series and to begin with I would suggest that it remains that way or you could end up with divisions with a single person in them.

Regards

Scaff

BTW - Expect my lap time (via PM) before the deadline.

Oh right!:ouch: Forgot, yes it was a copy and paste, just decided to change things to make it fit. In the future I would hope to be able to install divisions though.

Also, I think a black flag means that at least one wheel went off track, so I was pondering wether I should judge it by black flags or by two wheels on track.
Black flags would be a simple way to check, but harder to actually race without one.
A human judge though would make it equally easy to race like in GT4, but harder to tell if it is clean, especially with less views and no analyzer. It's something I need your oppinion on.

Also, I hope someone decides to take the place of running this in this thread. I really only have enough time to do this one partly because I am forgetful. If noone applies I may have to postpone the next one until someone does. Or do as many as I can, but I will probably forget. If I do forget though, the deadline still applies. Entries submitted later will not be accepted, just expect the results to be late.:)

You had me up to this point.

lot's of people cant afford these devices and I really don't see why a video isn't acceptable. These types of rules are just plain OCD and irrational. It's just the internet. Anybody who takes it this seriously doesn't need to participate in these types of events.

My time so far is 1:14.306 and if that's not an acceptable way to put it in, then too bad. If you don't believe me I'll post a vid of me doing a lap likely faster than that as it was just a warm up.

edit: there, is that less over the top??

RS

Your post was totally over the top and to my mind not constructive in any way, shape or form.

While your points and observations are valid, the manner in which you explained yourself (or rather ranted) was not needed.

Someone starts a discussion on trying to get a WRS for Enthusia up and running, to make things easier they use (and acknowledge) the established guidelines for the GT WRS. Why do they do this, well to my mind for two reasons, the first being it provides a framework that can be discussed, secondly its a framework that is known to already work (hence the popularity of the WRS).

People do own this kit (and for those that don't its not exactly that expensive) and evidence from the WRS (and other series) shows that people can and do try and cheat. For those that are honest about times to get beated by someone who is later found to have cheated is gutting to say the least.

No one (and certainly not MINICOOPER120) said it has to run this way, series have been run successfully with no verification of times at all (the Virtual Track Day Series was one), it was a suggestion and discussion thread and an attempt to get something started.

I have to honestly say that I am quite disappointed in the attitude, those that frequently champion Enthusia often moan about how people ignore it because of GT4. Well anyone looking to get interested is just as likely to be put off by posts of this nature.

Yes, very very well put Scaff. I am myself, a regular competitior in the GT WRS, and even though I only joined ~12 weeks ago, I have seen a few cases of cheating and several mistakes (purely accidental) that have put people top of the podium, while others have run the proper set up, and lost, unfairly.
This is why a replay is requested.

I would join in if a video replay was admissable. Sorry, but I won't be buying an AR Max, especially since my PS2 doesn't always work.

I have to admit if I just judge by black flags a video could be used, to see just if there was a black flag in the run, but I'm still questioning wether I should judge with Flags or Two wheels off track/walls. Enthusia doesn't have an analyzer or many views, so it would be hard to confirm, but easier to race. On the other hand if I use flags it will be easier to judge, but you'd need to be more careful when driving.

I seriously need your input guys, or this whole thing will have to be postponed until I (and anyone who has suggestions) get our heads straight.

For what it's worth, it seems to me like Enthusia uses the "two wheels off" rule for the black flags.

Personally I believe the blackflag system on Enthusia is very sketchy. For example, on Pacific raceway (SFC), if anyone cuts the chicane after the uphill straight with two wheels still on the strips , blackflags are given.

I'm sorry if I discussed lap time in myy previous post, I really missed that part... Anyway my best time is 1'14'188. Which site can I use to upload my .MAX replay for the verification? Thank you. Bye

I am removing the deadline for now because we really don't know what we're doing, or rather, I have no idea what I am doing. There's some things we need to straighten out, but you can certainly save your laptime.

Now, firstly, we need to decide how to judge a clean lap.
Secondly, we need a host. I can't do this forever, just wanted to get it started.
Third, I want to wait until this gains enough popularity. I really only expect 2 or 3 PMs today, so we need more people.

There's more that we should probably discuss too.

You can upload it here I think, just keep in mind, you really should wait until the results thread before posting it, rather than here or in the PM.

Just click 'manage attachments' and click browse, select your file and open. Now I think clicking upload will put it in the post. You can tell when you go back to the window, it shows the file under the manage attachments button. You don't need to keep the other window open, just the posting one after.

Bump? (see what I mean when I say this forum has little traffic?)
