New Idea for Online Races.

Car Chases. It'd be a good way to attract all kinds of drivers from drifters to drag racers. Now I have no interest in a mode from PD, as it'd ruin Kaz's idea of this game. What I was thinking was this forum coming together to create a "league" where it sort of serves as an expose for it's members.

Note: If this needs to be moved to the online racing bit of the forum that's fine, but I'm really looking for input on this idea. Don't be afraid to call me daft, I'm really just curious on the interest of this.
 
How would this be implemented? What is the objective? You're lacking vital details that may help us form an educated opinion.
 
Ok, well here's the basic structure, a more detailed description will follow naturally. Anyways, It would follow a rudimentary script provided by some of the fan fiction writers in the race report area. The the track creator would be used to create less of a racing theme, into more of like a highway setting. The actual chase would consist of "good guy" cars that would usually be just one (picture James Bond, The Saint, ect.) either eluding or chasing the "bad guy" cars. These would be driven by the racers and drifters of the forum to create dazzling, more entertaining chase. There would also be slower cars driven to create traffic and obstacles for the drivers to navigate. The event would be held on whatever an evening, or even over time to gain as much footage as possible. Question: Can you record and upload race footage? For the sake of being edited? Then the photomode guys would be able to take images of the chase and show them here Videos if possible
 
Sounds like you're trying to make a movie.
 
Close but I was seeing it like a bi weekly or monthly thing, like a tv show
 
There`s already a game like that, Grand Theft Auto.
What GranTurismo5 needs is an on-line Drag Strip with lights and timers, and a Drift track.

I don't mean for there to be cop cars and guns and explosions, not at all. There is just a certain nuance to evasive driving

I think gt5 needs dedicated 450pp 500pp 550pp 600pp rooms more like prologue.
 
making it into a photomode type of competition might involve a lot more portions of the game and make the photomode event interactive, in the sense that online players would have to cooperate to make the photomode event work in the sense of chase idea.
 
What about like tag? Everyone driving the same car, one guy is it and has to hit someone else to tag the other guy? Or something like this anyway. Would be more interesting than just the occasional drifting or racing.
 
hmm, I like the idea of tag, but i think a car chase would be cool for cooperation, I'm going to make a poll to see the level of interest

It sounds fun but I believe the only "evasive" worthy track would have to be top gear test trac since it has multiple routes!
 
I'll give you two games. Need for Speed: Hot pursuit, and Burnout Paradise.
Gran Turismo should not grow into an arcade game... My two cents.

I was thinking more along the lines of using the toscana, mt aso, and eiffel track creators to create "highways" and fill them with traffic.

The track with fireworks in the backround usually makes for nice tracks!
I think it's Toscana time change?

That's the one, and it would probably be shot in the dark to allow for the scenery to change over time, ie: Toscana to Eiffel to Nurburgring over time
 
One problem I think is the traffic is hard to create you would have to have cars spread out driving the same speed,so when you pass traffic there is no more because it would not spawn,next :lol: the traffic are players and their names would be displayed on your screen and it would fill your screen
