The new Impreza makes its debut at the next rally of the 2008 season - the Acropolis Rally of Greece. It's Subaru blue - arguably as iconic as Ferrari red - and it's sprayed on the latest Impreza World Rally Car, the imaginatively titled Impreza WRC2008.

Subaru have said the new car is 'the most radically different Subaru World Rally Car in 15 years' and it needs to be - Subaru haven't won a WRC event in three years.

Drivers Petter Solberg and Chris Atkinson will be hoping for a promising run on the Acropolis (a gravel event), which starts on 29th May.

The new car is based on the new Impreza road car (introduced in June 2007) and retains the trademark Subaru powertrain of a boxer turbo engine and four-wheel drive.

And, of course, that legendary metallic blue paint.

I'm not yet a fan of the new road car but i definitely likey this!

I miss the gold color already. It is about the only decent-looking impreza in the entire range, though.

That looks fantastic, compared to my suspicions. Kudos, Subaru 👍

Most of us hated that the Impreza would come in with the form it has now (the five-door). The sedan version doesn't look too impressive. Something I've learned about rally racing cars is about how there are a number of hatchback-style cars. I guess I've missed the sedan or coupe cars around rally courses. However, I fear they are probably too much to take around a rally course.

As for the car itself, I'm mostly impartial to blue and gold. Those are my "official colors," you know. And I agree- not as great of a paint scheme as there's not a lot of gold colors. The silver colors on the car look nice, but seems a bit out of place. It would be like taking the old sky blue and orange of the Gulf liveries... and adding white or pink. Just doesn't work. It's still a very nice car no matter what the color scheme is.

What I find weird is that the other "rally hatchbacks" have 2 doors, yet Subaru went for 4.

It seems they've gone with the "If you can't beat 'em, Join 'em," strategy, aping the Focus as much as they can. Unfortunately, I think this'll backfire on 'em. I just have that feeling.

I'm not weeping about the lack of gold, I just hope this is the car that can bring Subaru back where they belong, the top step of the podium. I think the new WRC car looks brilliant.
