New iPod Nano! Touch goes on a diet, Classic is refreshed and Shuffles are un-dulled

While I'd agree with the fact that it will do more things, I'm still on the line about it. I've had such a positive experience with my Mini that in all honesty, I'd have a hard time not having some kind of iPod to replace it. Now that I've got WiFi at home, at school and at work, the Touch would likely make up the extra $80 quickly...

One problem though:

I can't get it in PURPLE.

Dang it...I bought an iTouch in December, 9 months later a new one is coming out? I don't even have the January iTouch update. Why should I pay for a firmware update that should be free?

Jailbreak it while you can.:sly:

You are bound to have more fun with it when you jailbreak it.

learn to not always get something new when it comes out or sme time later, you make the best deals about a year later, because you can read reviews and such, and wiat for a next update. You'll be chilling, laughing at those who regret buying whatever the product so soon.

Because that is how Apple works, duh. This should in no way, shape, or form surprise you. Jailbreak your iPod touch and have some fun with it...

Says who?

www.colorwarepc.com

They do excellent work if the $125 isn't enough to put you off. You can buy one through them also, rather than sending yours in. Apple will still cover it I think (they do for the notebooks) but Colorware themselves also covers it as much as Apple's warranty.

I have an older 4GB Nano (1st or 2nd) Gen, and for what it is, (a simple music player), it's a pretty good piece of kit.

For my birthday a week ago, I got a new 120GB iPod Classic.
I personally think the thing pretty much rocks.

I do have a couple of gripes that I think are MAJOR.
WTF??? I can download every CD I own to iTunes, even the copies given me by friends.
Why can't I download my DVDs to iTunes?
I've bought literally hundereds of movies, that I could watch on my iPod, or play on the TV, when we travel. But no, iTunes wants me to buy all that stuff again from them! :irked:

Secondly, why can you not put music from your iPod back onto your computer?
If the damn computer crashes or you upgrade to a better machine, it's a big hassle to move your iTunes over.

Copyright stuff, man.

Basically, iTunes is a junk as far as software goes. And I mean complete junk. Rip the DVD's with something else and import them.

I don't use iTunes to rip or manage my music at all. Just too slow and clumsy. Only time it is open is to manually add music to my iPod touch.

You can thank the government for that. It’s technically illegal to rip copy-protected DVDs (and most DVDs are copy-protected), so there’s no way that Apple as a public company can put that feature into their software. You can peruse VersionTracker to find a ripping program and import it into iTunes.

Again, you can find third party software that does that on VersionTracker. If you don’t already, you really should have your computer (including your iTunes library) incrementally backed up on an external drive – 500 GB drives are dirt cheap now.

I'm surprised no one brought up the new shuffle:

They have finally done it: Apple has created a product so needlessly minimalistic that it is completely impractical to use.

yeah, the new Shuffle is a joke. People will of course buy it though.

In other news, OS X mobile 3.0 was announced, including, Copy Paste, A2DP bluetooth, landscape email and text, among many many other features.

Finally MMS support too. Though first gen iPhone users can't use that new functionality due to a "hardware limitation."

Is Apple so full of themselves that they release that POS new iPod Shuffle and lie to their customer base just to get them to upgrade to a the newer product?

Quit being a dick, Apple.

Copy/paste, A2DP, landscape text? I welcome Apple to the true smartphone generation!

Actually, the shuffle is pretty intuitive. I just wish it still had a clip.
