"Two versions, 4GB and 8GB. 4GB will only come in Silver and be priced at $149, and 8GB will come in all colors at $199. They’ve shipped Nanos already, and will be in stores by this weekend. It will work with the iPod + Nike kit, so good news runners."
Classic:

The 80GB model has 25 hours music, 5 hours video. The 160GB has 40 hours music, 7 hours video.
Price: 80GB for $249, 160GB for $349. Ships today, with the new enhanced UI (Same as the Nanos).
Touch:

iPod Touch battery life: 22 hours music, 5 hours video
Storage: 8GB and 16GB, $299 and $399. Ships in a few weeks (this month).

Apple have wasted an opportunity with the Touch. I was expecting a 30gig HDD in there. The classic is what I'll get, all metal body is nice plus it's thinner than the 5.5G. The FatNano... Well it's fat. There are also new colours for the Shuffle.

uh... I'm fine with my Nano thanks. As for the video, Yeah... it's better they get this damn rumor over with finally, I'm so damn tired about hearing about a touch iPod then people turning around and crying about finger prints.

Damn it the Classic still has that crappy mirror finish back.

I wonder how much this will affect the price of the current models. Should they come down significantly I'll definitely be getting a black 8GB 2nd generation Nano.

The iPhone UK release is one day after my birthday...:D
Anyway about these new iPods, am I the only one who thinks the FatNano looks quite cool?!

How do you use internet on the touch? Is it from like a hot spot place like Starbuck's maybe or what? If you can use it for free, I'm willing to get one maybe :)

I'm liking the Touch and the black Classic, but I'm not digging the new Nano or the pastel colours they've introduced. Blueegh... They've extracted any life out of the sub-£100 iPods, there. I can see why they've stretched the Nano, but that colour scheme is just horrible.

Love the touch, though. Apart from the rather stingy hard drive.

I assume you just connect to any wireless router/wifi hotspot.

The Starbucks gig is so you can connect there and see the last 10 played songs by iPods, listen to samples of those songs, and decide if you'd like to buy it or not.

DWA
It can go online?

Yes.

Now, why did they split the features between the classic and the touch? Iphone-phone=win. ipod clasic= win because of space, 160GB. Now, why the HELL did they do that? They could have the best of both worlds, the touch, plus the classics space=160GB touch

WHY?

WHY?

Because it would cost an insane amount of money, make the iPod Touch a lot bigger, and cannibalize the iPhone?

It won't make it much bigger... It'll likely be as thick as a 80GB 5.5G iPod.

It's pretty comical how apple is able to brain wash everyone simply when calling stuff an ipod... at this point the ipod touch is basically a pda... :dopey:

It's pretty comical how many people will be buying a touch.

Let's quickly do this:

Classic
80GB for $249, 160GB for $349.

Touch
8GB for $299, 16GB for $399

Yeah! I want 1/10th the space for more money.[/sarcasm] No touch screen is worth 10 times the storage capacity.

In terms of a PDA I'd actually buy the touch ipod more for the internet capabilities and virtual keyboard to type. But I don't really need a $400 PDA atm.

Exactly, maybe if it had 40GB space I would be considering the touch as a serious option (it would obviously have been a bit thicker and heavier), but now I'm going to buy the 160GB...in black.
