Question: Can I use the iPod as a pen drive without having to install the drivers that come with it? I mean, using the generic drivers Windows installs for a regular pen drive?

If it can than I would start to consider getting a classic model.

The old ones did so I can only assume these ones do. I always use my girlfriends 80gb for taking files to and from Uni.

Yeah! I want 1/10th the space for more money.[/sarcasm] No touch screen is worth 10 times the storage capacity.

You're forgetting the Touch has a far better aesthetic look (with its hardware and interface), far more intuitive interface, wi-fi (Safari, YouTube, and the iTunes Store, Starbucks integration), flash memory instead of a hard drive (lasts longer, far better loading of songs and movies), etc.

I'm not saying that the Touch has incredible value in comparison to the iPod Classic or anything, but you're hardly getting just a touch screen.

Also... Why does no one understand that the reason the touch has a max of 16gb is because high capacity flash hard drives are new tech and cost a lot? As well as that's probably the highest capacity atm. I'm so sure if it were a higher capacity you guys wouldn't be bitching about the high cost.

Hell, 16 gigs is perfectly fine for me, I struggled with 2 gigs and was still moderately happy. Besides if I want any other music once I fill my 16gig Ipod (which I doubt will happen quickly), the rest will be on my laptop, which will probably be nearby anyway.

3000 songs is okay for me...

Reason why I want one:

Its cool looking, it has internet, its a touch screen.

Nothing about practicality there. 8 gigs is plenty of space for me.

I have to say, the Touch is a win win for Apple. All the great things from the iPhone without the nasty AT&T bits. And I wouldn't be surprised if people began using it as a PDA, either.
That being said, the iPod Classic 160 GB is an awesome piece.
