ok this is a thread regarging these two most recent demo releases (as far as I know) of GT4. I know that this been discussed somewhat in the japanese demo thread (I have been through most of it) but I feel that a dedicated thread could be usefull.
what I am interested in is a comparison of the two, by people who have ideally played both, in areas such as physics, graphics, menus, cars, tracks, compadibility with DFP wheel etc. How far are these releases ahead of prologue?

thanks

graphics and physics are exactly the same. menu's too for the most part.

if both demo's feel any different its due to the fact that the bmw only has retail cars while the new demo has high powerd tuned up cars.

Another waste of thread. 👎

By the way Welcome to GTP Fracescop1. Not to be rude, but try not to open meaningless threads. Use the search feature that may help a bit more.

You are meaningless.
I find it a interesting discussion.

And stop attacking users like this!

LOL. Highlarious indeed. By the way I don't consider it attacking, by the experiences I've seen in GTP this would be a perfect waste of thread, and I don't mean it as an attack. Look hey if this were your thread my decision will stand the same, if this was my thread I'll shoot myself. You fell me???

suicide over a redundant thread. harsh.

Listen, if you don't like this thread, don't reply on it. It' easy!
To tell users what to do and what not, is moderator's job.

For those who don't get these demos (like me) would be interessant to see what other (that have played them) can say.

NO! You are wrong. Physics are better (different) in GT4 demo than in BMW Demo. Handling isn't so sensitive (thats very good).

Graphics - the same, menus - the same. Sound - dunno, maybe the same.

You know what's interesting I haven't played those demo's either, but I just don't think this thread will tell you things that aren't already posted up in this forum. So I would suggest you just search and you'll find the valuable stuff you're looking for. 👍

Have a nice day.

I thought this was a good thread.
I, too, would like to know of any differences. I would like to know if anything has been added or changed.
To the rest, any info would be great! :)

They are pretty much identical ... cars different so handling different
I can say MR2 gives you similar sense of speed as bmw 120
since MR vs FR, the handling will be different
its really easy to notice when you brake
however I prefer the Japanese demo since you can do single race
and you can repeat over and over again without return to main menu
I also love the photo mode ... I guess someone will open a site for posting your photo shoots in near future

I think BMW Demo was intended to play only on ps2+wheel combinations and so sensitivity was higher. I noticed immediately the difference and even trying MR vs 120i there is difference (and i'm not talking about suspension things).

Another waste of an active member. 👎

Comparing the GT4 Demo to BMW, I prefer the menu's on BMW b/c you click a drop-down menu, hold X while changing your selection, then release when you've selected. This has a much better flow I feel as compared to the GT4 demo where you have to click to open it, make the selection, and click again to close it before you move on to the next one. I don't know, I figure the menu system is pretty important in a game as vast as this with all the photo-mode adjustments and settings adjustments, LAN set-up

Another difference is the wheesshhing sounds from the cars in replay in the GT4 demo that are so lovely but not in the I Series.

One important difference: The GT4 demo does not have an intro movie, and the BMW demo has a really really really bad as$ one 👍

More 300mb and I´ll be testing the GT4 demo myself. I will not be able to compare it to the BMW 1 Series since I haven´t played that one, but I´m hoping to be improved upon GT4 Prologue. 👍

BTW, has anyone found a way to take off the time limit on this demo?

It's the first time I win a trip on someones signature

I just got the BMW demo without the time limit :D

My first impression is that the physics are slightly worse than the later demo. Perhaps not the physics themselves, but rather the speed at which the BMW reacts to steering input. It feels far too quick to react, very unreal (using the DS2 anyways). Like GT3, push the steering joystick all the way to the right and the car's wheels are instantly to the right, despite that no driver could ever turn a steering wheel that fast. I found the GT4 demo to have an ever so slight steering delay that made it feel much more real.

Other than that, the demos feel very similar. I'm glad to see a diesel car in GT4, though I must admit to preferring the 120i. The 120d's diesel engine is no where near as tractable as the 120i's petrol, having only about 1500 usable rpm as opposed to 3000 or so usable rpm in the petrol car. Nevertheless, I found I was consistently quicker around the (entire :D) Nurburgring with the 120d, and could consistently reach a higher speed on the long straight.

I finished getting the GT4 demo yesterday afternoon but I didn´t burn it yet. I´ll do this later today. Can´t wait to play it. :)

Heep: Do you notice the advantage in handling that the 120i has ? It just seems stickier to me, like when I'm about to lose traction on a relatively shallow but fast corner, it seems like the i responds quicker to a little slight throttle to regain balance and control than the d does. I think it's a bit more tossable too, plus I like engines with a very specific rev range (ala honda). I don't know, what would anyone else say the difference is in their handling ? I'd like to hear anyone's input on this because I think the physics really are already shinning just in the difference between those two cars, let alone the variety in the GT4 demo.

Hmm, hadn't noticed a handing difference between the two cars really, but I'll try them again back to back tonight. Anyone know what the power/weight specs are on the two? The diesel certainly seems to have a raw power advantage...

Take my advice, read over your own words before you click on that submit button will you...either that or learn how to distinguish between when to use the word fell and feel...if needed, here's a good resource for you! 👍

120d:
1415 kg = 3119.5 Lbs
163 Bhp
340 nm = 250.74 lb/ft

120i:
1335 kg = 2943.2 Lbs
150 Bhp
200 nm = 147.49 lb/ft

I'm really enjoying the comparison of these cars in real life vs. the demo. I'd have to completely agree with those numbers there after driving both cars up and down numerous steep hills :D

I got all that info from here

GermanCarFans.com BMW 1 Series - In Depth

Am I the ONLY one who really likes driving these cars ?!

They are fun. The lower weight of the 120i could certainly be a factor in the handling difference between the two. As expected, the diesel has gobs more torque than the petrol, though I'm surprised it has a bit more bhp as well. That would explain its slight speed advantage.

Interesting to note though, that on paper, the 118d and 120d engines seem to be indentical, but are vastly different in power outputs...
