Should we keep the new penalty system?

Doing practice for the upcoming FIA races and this new penalty system is a dick. I understand it may work for races to force people to serve their penalties instead of letting them go down as they race. But for time trial it starts clearing on the last straight so, It completely ruins the next lap. Which forces a restart and is ok and all but, sometimes I like to keep my splits up so that I know which part of the track I'm struggling on. To keep my splits and have a chance to pull in a decent lap I either have to turn around or do another 'slow' lap.

Surely wait until you've raced with it before making a decision and a poll? Also, the slowdown area varies from track to track, for example at Dragon Trail Gardens it is on the back straight in Sector 2.

Seems to me the problem, actually 2 of them, is that the game needs to recognise was an advantage gained at the start of the new lap meaning it should be invalid or not, and couldn’t the game remember splits on a retry as it already remembers the ghost.

Blaming this on the new penalty systems seems really misplaced.

Charlie Whiting doesn't provide data to the F1 teams when he specifies a corner or runoff is not to be abused. He just tells the team where they are, and they obey it. I don't see the issue. It doesn't take long to learn where the areas are that PD say are OOB. Either avoid them, or man up and take the penalty!

The whole idea of a penalty is that it be punitive. Not that it returns your lap to the time you would have got if you didn't exceed the limits!
