2008 Rolls-Royce Phantom Coupe

Autoblog
Perhaps calling it a true GT might have been a bit of a stretch, but with changes to the chassis, steering, brakes and suspension, Rolls Royce promised that this new Phantom Coupe would take Rolls into a new market. Appearing very similar to the concept 101EX that debuted in 2006, the Coupe and its Drophead brother are also expanding the bottom line for RR. Sales for RR were a huge 1010 for 2007. This new model and the Drophead that it follows are taking on the Bentley Continental GT and GTC challenge with more of a focus on the driver. With help from parent BMW, it's understandable that these cars might be a little better on winding roads than one might suspect. We'll have to wait until we get one in the AB garage to make our final judgment. What isn't being debated here is the fact that the coupe is a gorgeous car. Perhaps even nicer looking than its convertible sibling. While the car itself is a beautiful piece of rolling sculpture, the gray color and standard wheels shown on the first production model today didn't do much to show it off. When they opened the suicide doors, however, it really didn't matter anymore. This thing has Style with a capital "S" and that's what it takes to succeed in this niche.

I love it! I'm normally not much of a fan of the BMW-era Rollers, but this and the Drophead are just beautiful. I'd have a really hard time choosing between this and the Continental, but may just go with the Roller because it just feels so "right."

I don't feel the same way. It's a huge car with a tiny greenhouse...and not in the Group C fashion, either. Perhaps if they'd trimmed the boot and made it a bit more of a fastback...

God, I love fastbacks..

If ther rear were more rounded, like an early '50s car, instead of square, I would be fine calling it a "Club Coupe."

Ive been driven in a normal Phantom and its just like no other car you have ever been in..... simply amazing level of comfort and quality.. This should be all of that but you will be driving. And you wont have to deal with a canvas roof (however 'special' it is!).

Looks stunning, in a way better than the phantom because everything seems more in proportion with 2 doors.

I cannot wait for the Baby Rolls currently in development...

Why oh why can't there be Rollers in Gran Turismo!

That is something that really seems to help the car. I'm not quite warmed up to the front end though.

I couldn't see myself driving one.

I personally hate the "regular" Phantom, I wasn't impressed by the car at all. These new two-door (and convertible) versions are just that much better. They look, and likely drive, like proper Rolls-Royce products.

The only thing, like I said before, to keep me away would be the Continental GTZ. That car is just too damn awesome to ignore... No matter how bored I was with Continental spots in Miami...

Thought: Scratch both of them, I want a "lesser" Mercedes CL600.

It appears Rolls-Royce is trying to out-distance itself stylistically from the Chrysler 300, which makes a better impersonation than the original.

No sir, I don't like it. The amps may go to 11, but you can't leave them there all day long.

Best paint in the World. As good as you'd find on a DB7 or Vanquish.

Which is why it is the best... DB9s don't quite cut it, they're now the best of the rest.

They are stunning vehicles - you have to experience them right up close to figure it out.

I think it looks great, I don't think I would ever have the need for one though, even if I was a millionaire. Nice to look at though, very elegant.

I'm really loving this coupe. Now THIS is a super luxury coupe I'd want to spend my money on if I were a millionaire. Give me all black on black so I can personify the gangster in me. Old Englishmen drive Bentley's, real mobsters drive Rollers. :D

Oh, and the CL is my first choice for super coupes. Its just miles of German godliness.

It looks like they really threw a lot of post-production work at it, Porsche-like, yes.

I don't know if I like it more than the Drophead either (I personally love the teak, so very very much), but it's way better than a gussied-up Phaeton. I don't see how they even compare the two... isn't this three times the price?
