New Player Questions

Hello guys. For som odd reason I picked up a GT5 game last week to break up the monotony of my COD's and BAM! I'm hooked! Loving the game and thanks for the wealth of knowledge in these forums. I've found tons of answers I needed on various topics but here's one I need help with. If there actually is a solution....
Is there a way to make the game run faster or more efficient on the PS3?

I have no lag. Driving is super smooth and 100%. But the "load time" for tracks and starting races runs from 20-45 seconds. Even when I am tuning, car shopping, using GT HOME features it feels like everything takes sooo long to load or close out of. I know the game is installed on the console HD and that it is running a TON of information. I was just wondering if I was missing something, a trick of the trade, or using a bad PS3. Someways it just feels like I'm spending a lot of time waiting and not enough time driving.
I'm also early in the game, level 17 with 300K c so I'm trying to bang out series races and such.

Also, is there an easy way to see what races are available to me based on my car inventory? Instead of going through A levels, hitting square to find nothing in my garage for "This race"?

Thanks for any input guys...the forums already been a huge help.

Welcome to :gtpflag: ! I try to keep the size of my save as small as possible - i.e. I keep no helmets, horns & suits. (I'm no collecter! :lol: Erm... except where BMW M series cars are involved. :O) Also, I keep duplicate cars to a minimum. For online, keep clearing your cache in - Options > Network Settings. Other than that, maybe a larger, external HDD?

If your load times take a long time try this Go to where it says Options in the game stroll down to you see Utilities click on it and you will see a Pre-install main game data click on the button this is where you get faster loading times for tracks and starting races I hope this will help you. At the top of the GT5 Questions & Answers page the first post has a lot of good information, Prize car's and what races they come from it short of help's what cars to use. Do some seasonals for money.
 
Getting a SSD will help a bit. It's basically a flash drive that plugs into your HDD slot.
 
Sometimes, clearing the browser- and in-game-cache also helps on the loading... Or, at least I've heard that it does.
 
Hi Paul,

You questions have sort of been answered here but I will clarify.

Install a SSD (Solid State Hard Drive) in your PS3 and Pre-Load the game data from the disc. This will speed up load times to an acceptable level. Also your PS3 will boot up a lot quicker too. Just Google this as there are lots of tutorials on the net.

I just wish someone had told me this when I first got the game that you need to do the B Spec races first. You will win the cars that you need to compete in the A spec races. Also the money that your B Spec drivers earn you get to spend on cars as well.

If you can't be bothered (or don't want to) do B Spec then go to the seasonal challenges and do the online races with the cars you already have. Some races you can earn around 3mil credits per race :-) There are PP bonuses for winning with reduced PP cars and a daily login bonus up to 100% so it is very easy to get a 4x payout for a win. Also when you get a little better and can Gold the Time Trials there are some very nice cars to be won as well but you can't go back and do these so there is only a 2 week window for each event.

I do hope some of this helps.

BTW as with COD this game has been (and still is) hacked so watch out for the online lobbies and again you can can Google this too.

I bought the game a couple weeks ago and a lot of people gave me good information so I'd be happy to pass it along.
 
Thanks for the input guys. I cleared the game cache. Minimal help. I'll look into adding a HD. A good, high speed HD could help. I've been trying to sell off cars ill never use. Still loving the game. As far as network plug, gonna have to try that one...very curious on that one. Also signed into PS network.
I haven't even tried B spec yet. I enjoy playing so I haven't experimented yet with setting up a driver.
I've gotten most A spec amateur,beginner,professional races done gold. Buying a Ferrari today :-) I think the Scuderia.

Just can't quite gold the British lightweight. Need a faster lotus or to put more $ in it.

The GTR race car that came with the game, crazy good car.
I have enough credits now to maybe 100% jazz up one of my cars, curious to see what comes out of it.
 
Since I am still new, I was wondering if I am missing something as far as GT5 Commnity. I have set up a profile on GT5 website, but none of my cars show up. I've looked into GT5cars.net. Great site for info, but manually inputting cars early in the game is a time killer... I'm winning, buying cars all day. Is there a way o share my profile,cars,progress with this GT5 community ?

Tubo 1,2,3. Low,Med,High. If I'm racing tight courses? Lots of tight turns with slow down and acceleration, should I be using a 1 or 2 for low end boost? Or is the stage 3 just the "best" turbo one you invest the money?

At level 23, working on expert races, do most people generally use 1 car for most races ?
My GT5 came with the Nissane GTR35TC is insane for almost anything. My F Scud430 is tuned well now. I am just starting with my ViperSRT10ACR. So many posts say its a tank but I'm just not a Vette guy :-(. Oh and my TVR Tamora 02 is a wicked blast.

Only your shared cars will show on the GT5 website - and you can only share 6 cars, none of which you can use while you're sharing.

But you can borrow the cars of anyone else on your friends list who's sharing cars - good way to get through events when you haven't bought the appropriate cars yet.


Also, I can recommend the GTPlanet book "GTPEDIA" (go to the top of the screen and click the yellow GTPEDIA tab... or my signature :D ) in response to your first post. We include full event listings including AI cars used and eligible player cars for every A-Spec race so you can plan your road map. And the same for the previous 9 games too :D You can download a free preview chapter - for GT1 - so you can get a rough idea of what we include in the GT5 section to decide if it's worth it for you.

We don't answer any tuning questions in there though - that's kinda personal preference. I will say that your only real concern about turbos isn't where they develop power - you can use gearing tunes to stick yourself in the powerband - but how much they make. You're right that if you're on an Autumn Ring Mini-type track you probably won't be wanting a brazillion horsepower because by the time you've reined it in enough to stop the wheels spinning you're already wanting to brake for the next turn - and you're going way too fast to accomplish it!
 
Also, if you're having trouble with a race, you might want to check out various tunes on your car. My personal go-to is Praiano, but there are a ton of great tuners out there. Here's a link to Adrenalin's tune shop, Adrenatune. It's a great resource for getting the most out of your cars.
