Man, what the heck is wrong with some ppl on this forum? Like n3wb or whoever that fag was, Makin fun of that one guys suggestion. Just because someone is a new member doesn't mean they're new to drifting. And it ALSO means you have NO right to treat them like crap. I only happen to be a new member because I never knew about this site B4, but I've been drifting for like a year and a half now. Tryin my hardest with my lime-green two tone S13 :dopey:

Second, how come threads almost always turn into flame wars? Why can't we all just get along? Or, if you have nothing good to say, stay the hell outta this site because no one needs that crap. We're here to have fun, share ideas, and NOT fight.

Heh heh. That was pretty good. Yes, the veterans of this forum recognize that not all new members are "noobs" But what happens is someone will come onto the site, start ranting and raving about how much skill they have and how we don't know what we're talking about. And that's when they get labled as noobs and possibly flamed. I don't like flame wars either. In fact, I believe the flame war "percentage" of this forum has gone done incredibly since a certain member was banned.

However, I do agree that sometimes we need to relax a bit and give people a chance to figure out that drifting in GT3 is different then any other game, save LFS. So until they learn what good technique is, there's not a whole lot of point of riding them like that. Unless of course they decide that they're right and can't possibly be wrong. That's when people get into trouble.

I said all that to say this. There are the occasional times when someone needs to be set straight. But I have to admit that I was one of the most ignorant and arrogant people on this forum when I first got here(check my first threadWho Cares about Sim tires). So I can understand why people can feel slighted when a veteran gets on them about, technique, mixing tires, suspension settings etc... The majority of the new members have been rather respectful and surprisingly knowledeable of late. So I don't prejudge someone until they open their big mouth!

I don't even know what thread your talking about, but I suppose I could pick any thread started by a new member talking about drifting. I find that most of these threads turn into "flame wars" because we've had these same types of threads several times before.

One example you could use would be the 'Mixed tire' issue. This has been brought up many times before and every time it has been proven to be a bad idea. Despite that, new members show up all the time and recommend the idea to others as if they have thought of something new and groundbreaking. Then the members who have been around a while and were part of the previous threads on the topic show up and just shoot the idea down. I think most of the time it's not done to be mean, but rather done out of exasperation at the lack of new topics and ideas on this board.

I think we all realize that there are new members out there who have been drifting for a while and have only just joined the board. Yet, you have to remember that many on this board have spent a lot of time getting into the physics and theory behind drifting. They've researched the effects of car settings and tire choices in drifting cars. They've also shared and debated these ideas with other knowledgable people on this board. This forum is like an accumulation of hundreds of peoples knowledge of drifting. In a setting like this, you're going to learn a lot more about what works and what doesn't then somebody who just drifts in GT3 at home every once in a while.

An example might be a guy who takes his car to an autocross event every now an then and shows up to racing school and tries to tell everybody at the school how they should do things. (note: I'm not saying this is a school, but sometimes it feels like that) A person like that would get laughed at and "flamed" just like we've seen of "newbs" here.

My advice: just remember that this board has been around for a while, so there probably aren't too many topics you can think of that haven't been discussed before. Remember that even though you might not be a "newb" to drifting, you also haven't been around here and haven't been involved in the discussions and arguments we've had and as such, haven't learned from them as we have. Also, try to lighten up. Every "newbie" was given a hard time.

ps. Don't make new threads until you've skimmed through the boards for a while. There's TONS of info on here and all you have to do is search a little.

TurboLevin was talking about this thread

[ Peter from family guy ] Holy crap. I can read a n00bs post in the GT3 Drifting forums. [ /Peter from family guy ]

well here's a subtle statement. Try to figure it out and learn

In a drifting forum, you post a thread concerning an "unlawful attack on newbs". You also ask WHY WE BASH ON NEWBS?

exactly.

Hi welcome to gtp, im nk, the reason is that Streetking made fun of Shadow drifter thats why alot of ppl attack him

Ppl.... Polymorphic Programming Language?
Pokémon Puzzle League?
Plant Physiology Laboratory?

Which is it?

Actually, you're right. Not everyone who comes here is a n00b to drifting... but alot who do come here are n00bs to forums. GTP and it's moderators express very clear, very precise rules when it comes to what is proper and improper conduct on THEIR forums. Some new members need to be unfortunatly schooled in the ways of online manners. This is not to insinuate that they are bad people, not at all. But we're all here to have fun and certain gestures detract from the lively atmosphere of the community.

As for my view, I doubt no one's skills that attend this forum (though some people's may be better than others)... but it's always wonderful to have an example to refer to.

While that may be a fine sentiment, you're rather let down by your referral to another member as "whoever that fag was".

If you cannot disagree with someone without resorting to ape-like homophobic attacks, you're in the wrong place.

"Here's his shot!"
"*SCREAMS* Oh my god! TurboLevin just caught on fire! Someone call an ambulance!"

... in short:

Burn.

I've said it before and I'll say i ti again....Vink you're a trip!!!

Hiya Famine. haven't seen you in the drifitng forums too often...any special occasion?

we dont attack noobs except Streetking because he flamed one of the legend (ShadowDrifter) and all we do is direct noobs on like where drift settings are when they ask for em

Yes - it's August 10th. Duh! :D

I tend to read most things, but only reply where I feel necessary. I rarely feel it necessary in the drift forum, because it's not my area of expertise. But this one was necessary.

Hey... Guess what.... I can read your post.

Drifters with grammar. Thats something new.

HEY ITS A NEW BREED!

Wheres Bill Nye The Science guy when you need him...

It's a new sub-species of Drifters Darin! I like to call them "normal people". All the rest are just "Homies" :) :) lol

I type "normally" because it just makes you look bad when you type :dunce: LyK dIs N' N0 1 CaN r3aD 1t :dunce: . I kno it sometimes can be faster when you're typing, but after a while you get used to typing like that, and you do it in places you shouldn't. Like, once in my english essay, I put in "lol" and "u" and "r". It was SOOO embarrasing. I stopped after that.
