New PS3 freezing up in GT5

I had to buy a new ps3 the other day cause the one I have had for 2 yrs. stopped reading the disks. Got everything set up and went on line to race. When I went to leave the room it let me out but froze at the GT screen instead of going back to the home screen. It does this just about every time I play, no matter if I set the room up or if I go in someone else's room. Loading is so slow. Does anyone know what could be wrong? Please help, I have 9 days left to return this PS3 and get my money back...
 
I have only had this problem with my Euro disc (not my US disc) .. So these are my experiences..

US disc: Have you been modding? If not that's fine, just sometimes I mod "too much" and it causes issues such as these, at that point I just revert to an older save..

EU disc: as far as my Euro disc went, I was black screening all the time, every time I would leave a room or lag out the PS3 had to be hard reset, also it happened when I was buying cars from the new car dealership.. I replaced the disc and reinstalled the updates and all was well!

These were just my experiences, I don't believe it matters where your disc is from, but hopefully one of my examples sound similar and will guide you in the right direction! 👍

I am not sure I have a older save now I did just in case and yes modding, sounds like what is happening here...

what do you mean you replaced the disk and how do you reinstall the updates...

Should've replaced the laser in your old ps3.

Also heard the super slim ps3's have problems with gt5.
