Why do the descriptions of the new seasonal races give a HP figure of significantly less than the actual competition?

Could it be this is the recommended HP for having a competitive race against the AI which could be + 20-30 HP more powerful???

I suspect so.

However they could have done what they did with the first few seasonals and left restrictions, albeit not as strict as they were. Say, grid starts and such fort.

I usually follow what ever the guideline is. Makes for an intense and fun race.

20-30 HP is not "significantly" less...

Obviously HP is not the only criteria to consider. I just tried the first FF in my Spoon FIT race car with 123 HP and racing hard tires and won easily. Then I tried my Peugeot 207 GTi with 183 HP and comfort softs and finished a distant 2nd.

Are the new events repeatable, or just one off payouts? Thanks in advance, I'm stuck at work :(

From what I heard they're repeatable....

you must learn how to play GT5 its not about BHP, its about your car in hand & its tuning, ie: handling, top speed & acceleration. I love the way it is now, now X2010 NOOBS will learn how to tune a car

I believe it also says in the XXXhp range. I consider 430hp in the 400hp range. In the strictest sense of the word 499hp is in the 400hp range but they didn't get that crazy.

But really making them challenging comes from balancing hp/weight and handling. An ultralight good handling 200hp car can often beat a heavy 400hp car on comfort tires.

My only real issue is that the cars your competing against are not always balanced. There is often 1 that is stronger than the rest and when you race to match that one you destroy the others.

I wouldnt say competitive, I just won the a rwd at deep forest in the 69 bluebird rally car with no mods not even tyres, 125bhp!! I picked it by accident and just went with it

Also won the ff @ eiger in the classic mini, 98bhp

I think half the opponents estimate is realistic

I did the FR @ Cape Ring in my RM cappuccino on Race Hard tires, modded to 101 hp, no aids. Won by about 6 seconds...and I am not that great of a driver (and on ds3). Was a lot of fun.

Did FR @ Deep Forest in the Alfa Giulia TZ2, bone stock. Got spun into the wall once, overtook the last car on the final turn of the last lap, won by less than half a second.

Both were tons of fun. I get so much more enjoyment out of lightweight, lower power cars than I do heavy power monsters.

True, it would have been helpful if the menu had mentioned which tyres the opposition were on... I had to check the replay video to work that one out and found that my set of tyres on my 1st FF race were one step up on the opposition.
