Hi all.

I just bought a GT Omega racing cockpit a few days ago and am pretty pleased with it apart from the fact that the seat is killing my lower back. I was wondering if anyone had taken a real car seat from a car and put it on a racing cockpit like the GT Omega?

How difficult would this be? I imagine the holes on the real car seat won't line up with the holes on the racing cockpit. How would you get around this?

Thanks in advance!

You may just want to add some seat foam from a craft store. Those of us with the rSeat have done this and it helps substantially. I added padding to the bottom and back of the seat. I just finished a 5 hour session without any issues. Also, it may be your sitting position, too...

Can you give us an idea of the placement of the mounting holes? I can tell you that an MX-5 seat has four mounting holes on the bottom, one in each corner. I think (I can't check now as mine is very solidly mounted to my rig) they're roughly 32cm apart in both directions (except for the ones diagonally opposite, of course), but my memory is terrible when it comes to numbers because I'm now also thinking it could be 22cm, 28cm or 38cm. All four are M8 thread, too. I doubt that's a standard, though, but you could always add an adaptor between the cockpit and seat, by which I mean a sheet of some material, steel or MDF or plywood or whatever, with holes to match the cockpit and holes to match the seat, then just bolt it all up. Of course if the holes are very close or there's not much room then it'll be tricky, you have to find a material that won't break under the weight of a person sitting on it and it'll raise you up at least a little (if you're like me you will notice a 10mm difference), but apart from someone posting here with the make, name and year of a real car seat that will fit the GT Omega then you might have no other choice.

Then again the mounting points of seats may be an industry standard and you'll have no trouble at all, who knows?

Thanks guys. I have a couple of memory foam pillows I will try. If that doesn't work then I will investigate the measurements for a car seat.
