"Spellchecking is for imagination impaired drones who wouldn't know poetry if a Dr. Seuss book fell off a shelf and fractured their skull."

I saw this on a /. sig site and thought it worked well for me as well. And because I'm using a sig I'd like other people to see, I've turned on sigs (for the time being) to see others' sigs. I doubt it lasts.

A while ago I was in charge of the layout and IT side of a student newspaper. We had to write guidelines for people who were submitting articles, and one of my clauses was thus:

Always spell-check your article. Note: Spell-checking does not constitute repeatedly clicking Ignore

That's a newspaper article. The face of the newspaper, all members of the staff, and the school, are at stake. It is important to make others look good in that situation. Also, it has become expected by the general public that newspapers are supposed to be gramatically correct. I guess literary artists don't last long in the periodical department. They're too busy being written into the history books.

I can't belive there is a "sig site." So all these clever sigs were just swiped off some clever sig site? I'm so disappointed. :(

No, actually Slashdot is not a 'clever sig site' from which clever sigs have been swiped. It's a 'geek news site' on which readers use clever sigs that get swiped for the 'swiped clever sig site'. It's just a list of quotes really.

It's not like a collection of sigs for other people to use, it's just a collection of viewed sigs. Like a quote book. Sheesh, we've got a damn thread devoted to quotes - how is this any different?

It's not.
