when Hashimoto is asked about Final Fantasy VII: Advent Children Complete, he replies "You can look forward to the upcoming invite-only fan event DKS3713, where we'll have a major announcement that will shock the fans in attendance."

I doubt it will be a FF7 remake, most likely another side story game in the FF7 universe for the PSP or PS3

I really dont think they should put the time and money into a full FF7 remake, rather they should just release it on the PS Store with much higher quality sounds and upscaled to High Definition and a few extra bonuses

The more I think about it, a remake wouldn't be all that great. A sequel would be pretty cool. Maybe they could revisit a couple of the areas in the original.

FFVIII remake, confirmed!

Funny how we want remakes of old FF games more than XIII.

I'd love an FFVIII remake, but as I am a somewhat new FF fan, I am looking forward to XIII more than any remake.

i would love a FFVII remake because i love playing the original every other year but as time goes on the graphics all though classic and starting to get to me. and as for the person that said just rerelease the original with better sound and being upscaled to HD the upscalling part is impossible the sounds can be remastered sure that wouldnt take that long but upscalling the graphics they all would have to be redone seeing as the original was designed for SD TV's HD tvs wherent even thought of during the original production.

(side note i dont mean that they werent thought of as in design wise im possitive HD TV's where in the design stages 10 years ago i mean they didnt think of even people having an HD TV at the time. just before someone comes and trys to go 'well you know they had HD prototypes back then...')

because everything after FFX so far, was a complete joke. squaresoft was on top of the world with its PS1 titles and i wouldn't mind seeing a download able version of FFVI either

I predict an Xbox-exclusive FF7 remake.

lol Star Ocean: The Last Hope is also a 360 exclusive. and to think sony saved them from bankruptcy

I thought it was a timed exclusive, although even if it's not official yet, I'd be very surprised if PS3 doesn't get it's own version down the road... especially considering they currently hope to release it in Spring 2009... although Fall 2009 is probably a more realistic time frame.

well, if square-enix is going to release a PS3 exclusive version of VII, that'd be proof that S-E really hate M$ and they only agreed to make XIII multi-platform so they could enjoy that nice juicy bribe money (I reckon it must be in the region of $75-100 million baring in mind that M$ forked out $50 million just for some GTAIV DLC that no one cares about), but releasing a PS3 exclusive FFVII remake would all but doom the 360 version of XIII to failiure since any FF fan would buy a PS3 for a VII remake and (almost) anyone with both platforms would go with the PS3 version... but I guess I'm getting a bit ahead of myself here.

FFXII was excellent, IMO. Better than any of the FF games I had previously played, including FFVI, FFVIII, and FFX.

If they hated them, they wouldn't be releasing any games on the 360. Plus they began working on the multi-platform engine in 2004.

but releasing a PS3 exclusive FFVII remake would all but doom the 360 version of XIII to failiure since any FF fan would buy a PS3 for a VII remake

I wouldn't, but I don't really have to worry about that.

When I hooked my PS1 to my projector (720p native) the game looked like pixelated mess at 70" +. However when I watched the reminiscence of FFVIII on the Advent Children Movie disc on the projector FF7 didn't look like a pixelated mess, it looked as good as the movie.

I'm not saying an upscaled FF7 should look better I'm just saying they need o upscale it so it doesn't look pixelated on a big screen 1920x1080 TV. I doubt or rather hope the original game's data wasn't 320x240 but rather was downscaled to that. I think the PC version ran at 640x480 which would be much better then the original PS game and more acceptable.

I hope Sony is smart enough to recognize that releasing classic FF games that aren't readily available at brick and mortar stars like FFVII and FFVIII on the PS Store would sell a ton of consoles

I got off the full PS3 remake of old FF games bandwagon ages ago. All I want now is the games cleaned up and released on the PS Store

Microsoft bribed Paramount $50 million to leave blu-ray and become HD-DVD exclusive. A few months later HD-DVD went under. A waste

Microsoft bribed Rockstar $50 million for exclusive GTAIV DLC that nobody cares about anymore. A waste

Microsoft (from what I heard some time ago) is going to pay for the development of PS3 and 360's FFXIII. What's going to go wrong this time? I say FFXIII on the 360 doesnt even sell half as many copies as the PS3 FFXIII and moves nowhere as many 360s as PS3s.

The 360 has gotten 2 huge JRPGs from Final Fantasy Creator Hironobu Sakaguchi (Lost Odyessey+Blue Dragon) and both of them can't even surpass the 1 million sales mark.

PS3 FFXIII will sale 1 million in Japan alone during the first week. The 360 will be fortunate to get that many sells from North America and Europe combined.

PS3 FFXIII will also move a ton of PS3s in Japan while I question how many North American and European 360 owners are interested in JRPGs after witnessing the failures of Blue Dragon and Lost Odyessey

I'm Played one FF game on the PS2 and I liked it but never finished due to school work ...etc, Anybody can explian whats going on here lol as this is getting confusing . So how many FF games are going to be released for PS3 ?

Lost Odyessey was one of my best purchases for the 360. its sad to see it go under like that but again, 360 + JRPG's = abysmal sales even if its a great game

I think 2 are planned for now. I'm betting there will be more than that though.

It didn't do that bad. To quote myself
road_dogg33j
Let's see:
Lost Odyssey sold 440,000 copies in the US compared to 1,830,000 for Final Fantasy XII. That's not bad considering the much larger user-base of the PS2 and popularity of the Final Fantasy series.

This sums up my feelings towards square right now:

My God. Are they his arms? They really don't look like they belong to him.
I will say though he does say one interesting thing, piracy is rife amongst 360 owners. I know of 4 out of 6 owners who play pirated games.

As for the above I thought it was quite funny.

And this shocking announcement? I doubt it'll be very shocking at all (though it may shock ^ so badly he explodes).

it will be that they have signed an alliance with M$ and will now concnetrate on making games for all other platforms except PS3

Okay, so the huge announcement was a FFXIII demo will be included with the Advent Children Blu-Ray?... BFD.
