I've just got a Onkyo TX-SR308 surround system, then kind where you connect your HDMI sources to the receiver and it handles the signal to the tv.

With the PS3 the signal is constantly flickering and going out, normal TV sources from my PC media center and the xbox is fine, no flickering. Sometimes it doesn't do it, then next time I turn on the PS3 it goes crazy again.

Anyone know what the problem could be? I've tried different hdmi cables and tried connecting the PS3 to another hdmi input on the receiver but the flickering is still there. If I connect the PS3 directly to the TV it's fine.

Sorry to bump but I have literaly the exact same problem. Can anybody help?

Mods I think it might better to move this to Computers and Electronics system if you get the chance.

I use an Onkyo 805 and I never have had an HDMI issue. It sounds like a possible handshake issue with the PS3 and the receiver. I would guess if you used the component or composite connections from the PS3 the flickering would go away? I would try playing around with any HDMI setting on the PS3 to see if it goes away. If you are using a "Fatty" PS3 I would set your HDMI to Linear and the Slim can be either Linear or Bitmap. although this is more for sound it could be some type of noise or interference the receiver is picking up from the PS3. Go though the settings menu's in the XMB on the PS3 and try adjusting anything related to HDMI to see if it corrects the issue. You may want to try Onkyo customer support and see if they have FAQ or a possible answer for what you are experiencing. Good Luck:tup:

I've been using an Onkyo TX-SR606 A/V Receiver for a few years now, and when it finally kicks the bucket, I will not be buying another Onkyo product. It came with a two year warranty, and about 1 year after purchase, it stopped functioning altogether. I shipped it off to have it repaired under warranty, but the authorized repair center where I was told to send it took about a month to fix and return it. The calls that I made asking about the status of the repairs were met with very rude responses.

For the last couple of weeks, while playing GT5, a no signal message will sometimes pop up on my TV screen when something changes in the game, such as a race being completed or a simple change in the menus. Nothing changed as far as the hardware configuration during these events, but I found out that I have to get up and power-off / power-on the Onkyo to get the signal back. The unit does not feel excessively hot, but it seems as if at least one component is becoming overheated and is about to give out.

I realize that it is just a matter of time before this unit stops working completely, again, and I will have to purchase another A/V Receiver, but it will certainly not be an Onkyo.

I'm getting a similar problem - everything else works fine when I switch the PS3 on and tit goes through to the TV a get a flickering and rainbow colours briefly and then it is ok again for a bit. I've found that if I switch off the receiver and allow the signal to pass through directly to the TV and then re-activate the receiver the problem goes away, but I'm a bit fed up with doing this.
