After these recent few seasons of teams leaving and collapsing, F1 finally has a new play among the ranks. MIDLAND F1. a new team that will use Dallara chassis's (engines are not known yet though, possibly Cosworth or Toyota?) check it out here at Crash.net

It is great to see a new team...but let us see if A) they actually make it to the grid in 2006 B) can beat Jordon and Minardi (or not finish dead last, since they did say they are racing to win) C) last more than 2-3 years after they burn thru a few hundred million $....after that then cool!

I just hope they have the money to back.
On anotehr note, Nigel Manson is supposedly leading a £200m deal to keep Silverstone on the F1 callender in 2005. As it isn't led by the owners of silverstone, lets hope them chaps at Silverstone accept it.

Fantastic! :)👍

A British team and the possiblity of a Russian driver.. I like the sound of that :D

The Midland group is apparently quite wealthy and they said they realise F1 is expensive, with $100 million required to survive each year, and they're prepared for that. They feel F1 is the perfect international marketing platform for their product, which I would have hoped more large companies would think as well, so here's to them doing well. It's certainly going to be interesting to see just who they get together.

Nigel Mansell.

Since Mansell is a member of the BRDC, which owns Silverstone, one hopes that he has at least done some of the groundwork with the BRDC board, and with the holding company, Silverstone Circuits.

However, Jackie Stewart is President of the BRDC, and you can count only on him acting in a way that best suits his own interests, which may or may not happen to coincide with the best interests of the British public, of motorsport in general, or Silverstone in particular.

If a reasonable man was President of the BRDC, then I would be hopeful, but Jackie is definitely trying to worm his way into politics, and I think will be led astray by personal ambition - possibly to the detriment of the British Grand Prix.

Surely though if the funds did turn up then Jackie would have to consider allowing Silverstone back onto the F1 callender?
Although i don't expect them to turn up with anything like the Chinese circuit..
