Is there a specific car I should be getting at each level or can I grind towards getting my favorite cars first?

So far I went straight for the license tests, reached IB-10 which I'm currently stuck on.

Currently on level 12 with a DB9 and chrome line cars. Wasted all my money souping up a the Laborgini LP 640 for the A-spec professional supercar challenge, only to learn that the Corvette ZR1 would've done the trick.

I've banked 100k right now and desperate for the ferraris at level 13. Which car should I get next?

There isn't one car that is suited to the level you're on. Rather, you should concentrate on finding an buying cars that will allow you to take part in the events you have access to. It's no use sinking 100,000 credits into a Ferrari only to find that the next set of events you're looking at require Japanese sedans.

As interludes said, try getting cars that you like, but can also be used in future events. There are some specific events in which a Ferrari will be needed (la Festa Cavillino, and Festival Italia I believe).

Should have gone with the Gallardo instead of the Murcielago :( Right now save up for the 458 Italia.

As always in the GT series, the money is tight at the beginning and you have to buy cars that can be used in multiple races. It also depends on your personal tastes. I'm a skyline die-hard (I own an R32 GTR =D) and the many skylines in the used car area can be had on the cheap, so I just bought more and more cars whenever I pleased knowing I would probably never race them.

There aren't many cars that could typically be used more than twice. You could get an R8 for the various German races, but I don't think you're that far yet. Once you hit
Extreme Series
you'll need (want) the Formula Gran Turismo from the online dealership @ $4.8m.

4.8 million - Damn it took me ages to grind the professional Supercar ckt and save 100k.

I've been eyeing the 458 italia but I'm thinking I may need an american car for the american car races. Would a souped up corvette ZR1 come in handy more than once (as I recall from lurking here) ?

Do the Seasonal Online races... Nothing pays better even if you include the investment required to get into the races.

Look for threads on GTP for help on tuning the cars to perfection - buy car and mod - win $200k to $1mil. Plus you will level up rapidly.

You could probably trade 1 matte paint for a "perfectly modded" Fiat if you get lucky. That's $200k after you win for free!

This. Seasonal events are key to quick early levelling and lots of credits. B-spec is with a bit of your time, there is some good cars to be had.
