New to GT series

alright.....i have never played any gran turismo game and and i just played GT3 at a friends and i loved. i got the game for xmas as well as the GT Force Pro steering wheel. i completely suck at this game, but i wanna get better and i just dont know what to do to practice. i mean you have to win every race to unlock a bonus car and i struggle to even get a trophy....yeah i'm that bad...and i just dont know what to do to get better. so if anyone has any advice on how to improve, lemmy know.....thanx
 
Hey there, welcome to the forum.

Just practice and you will get better. Dont worry too much about winning races, just get used to the control of the game. Practice taking corners at various speeds so you can get used to the realistic gameplay. Also experiment with different settings for your car to make it easier to driver. Have the ASM and TCS on, say, 10 and 5, to keep things nice and stable.

You dont really specify what you are having trouble with so its hard to give you more advice. Maybe you should do a search on 'starting GT3, by clicking the 'search' link at the top of the screen.

Just practice, its like anything, the more you do it, the better you will get. :cool:

You are playing Simulation mode right? Or are you playing arcade?
 
i'm doing the simulation mode, and the only thing i really have trouble with is entering the turns at the right time, i seem to take the inside the whole way around it and i slow down a hell of a lot more than the CPU. everytime i try to take the turn wider, i end up going way to fast, but i guess i just need to practice a LOT more....but thanx for the help anyway.
 
I actually finding easy using the ds2 controller. I have heard alot of people say that they find a wheel hard to use so maybe you might wany to try the ds2.
failing that, in the setup there is a steering help option i believe... I dont know what it does tho... I am also lead to believe that practice makes perfect (tho i cant back this up ;))

if you want to get better do all the license tests they show you when to brake and turn into a corner. So it show you the proper lines, try to get all gold in the B license, you can skip B8 if you want it's a little hard but you will learn a lot from the rest. This might seem a little borring but that's how GT3 is, it's more of a hobby then a game even though it is a lot of fun.
 
I agree on the Dualshock 2 statement.

I played for about two years with the controller, got fairly good, then decided to use the wheel. Initially I was 10 to 15 seconds slower with the wheel. I've been using it for about six months and I'm still quite a few seconds off my faster times with the controller. Oh well. it's fun anyway (:
 
It is true, the wheel is more realistic but more difficlut. I bought mine when I was about 75% through, racing the fast Pro races. I couldn't begin to keep up. I put it away until I get a chance to restart from zero, and re-learn how to drive. But I already know what to do with the controls. For you, who are just learning what the cars want and how to drive, I'd suggest you switch to the DS2 controller for a while. I like to run with the left analog stick as steering and the right analog stick as gas/brake.

I will bet, even from your description, that you are braking too late. That always seems to be the problem, and I saw a big drop in my lap times when I learned to brake earlier. You should be just getting off the brakes whn it is time to turn in for the corner. This means you can be on the gas through the turn itself. Even though the AI cars may brake later and pass you coming into the turn, if you are accelerating through and out you should pass them on exit. After you pass the apex, ease off on the steering a little and let the car edge over to the outside. Less steering at thattime will aloow you to accelerate faster.

So you guys think that the wheel is a lot harder than the ds2? I neverd used a wheel in this game, but im planning on getting the new one, when gt4 comes out.

The wheel is supirior over the ds2 once you get used to it right?
 
Just do either arcade mode or do a test session. Those will both help.

I couldn't agree less. TCS is fine - 1 or 2 at most - but ASM should be turned off, shot, set on fire, poisoned, buried, exhumed, shot again, weighted and dropped into a canal.

ASM makes your car so unstable it's not even funny any more.
 
Famine did you by any chance wish to add anything else in there, you wouldn't happen to be an interrogator fot MI6.:lol:

most of the top times at gt3times.com come from ds2 users. the wheel is more realistic tho... depends on what you want
 
QUESTION: i dont' need the wheel to do drifting rite? (it should be easier on the DS2) am i correct?
