Hey all. I just rented this game and since there is no instruction book I'm lost. Can someone give me the basic run down of how the game works? How to unlock cars, etc..

Thanks

There are 6 modes in the game: Enthusia life, driving revolution, time attack, free racing, library, and options (unless im missing something). anyways, about the game.

Enthusia life
its basically a career mode where you start with slow cars, then racing to gain points (Called Enthu Points) to level up the tuning of your car and you driving skill level (just a RPG-ish kind of thing). you can only unlock the cars that you've raced against, and its random. so you cant always get the car you want, and sometimes you might even get nothing. also, there is a test drive in this option where you just drive of you liking (the airport is good for practicing with your car, very wide space)

Driving Revolution
the only purpose of this mode (i think) is unlocking the cars in Free Racing. its like this, you drive and pass through these barriers that should be perfected by timing. if you drive too fast, the barrier goes like this ['''''']. if too slow, goes like this [__]. if perfect, like this [---]. so basically, you need to adjust your speed to make the line in the middle, GO to the middle. So yeah, it SHOULD be pretty easy, since you wont be looking at the course but only the barrier things. and there's also these lines that look like this [-^-], that means you need to accelerate for the next barrier. and [-\/-] means decelerate (sh** that looks horrible). if you pass all the tests (up to lvl 18), you can unlock class D cars and some individual ones. but if you S all the tests, you get all the cars (211 cars).

Time Attack
?? Pretty obvious what this means. after beating a lap, you get to race with your ghost. and you use cars that you've unlocked in Free racing and Driving Revolution, but not the ones on Enthusia Life.

Free Racing
you can select how many laps you want, what tracks, what cars your goin to race against, tune your car etc. you can also unlock cars here by beating them without having black flags (no hitting other cars, guardrails, and off track) and should be in default settings (difficulty, the cars you race against). you can only unlock the tracks you raced from Enthusia Life here.

Library
you can watch all the replays that you saved, and other stuff like credits (not interested)

Options
You know what that is. Options to set difficulty, controls, etc

About the Black Flag:
Black flag decreases your points (Enthu points). so while driving, if you do something bad like going off course, hit other cars, or the wall, a black flag shows up on the screen.

Enthu Points (only in Enthusia Life):
after your race, you might gain or lose enthu points. if your points goes to zero, you cant go to the next race, so you will have to "Rest" (an option where you can gain points, but miss a race). havent done that, so you dont need to worry.

anyways, hope that info helps.

Very helpful thank you.

Any info one specific cars? Pretty much I want to unlock the american cars especially Mustang, Viper, Vettes, etc. I'm sure I'll need to play this a while to get them, but just wondering.

Thanks

I think those cars are class A. So if you want to unlock them in Free racing, you need to use atleast the same hp of those cars and also in the same class. If you want to know what classes they are and hp, check here: http://www.konami.jp/gs/game/enthusia/eng/model/aud_ger_0.html
might take long getting them in Enthusia Life.

those are all the cars. if you want to unlock a specific car, use a car that its in the same class, and close to its horse power.
