Toyota will release a new hybrid sedan next month here in Japan. It's not as efficient as the Prius but it's a step up in terms of luxury and size. Apparently it's based on the same chassis as the new baby Lexus hybrid. I'm a little puzzled by the name Toyota chose to give it though - Sai. In Japanese, sai means rhinoceros. Maybe they weren't happy with its styling?

It doesn't look too bad I guess... "inoffensive" would be the best word. It looks like an Avensis with smaller wheels and a weird interior.

"Inoffensive" describes just about every Toyota in the last ten years! I'm hoping they get their groove back with that new Toyota/ Subaru 2 seater coupe.

I think I like the looks of the car except for its side... The interior is quite futuristic and the cluster is my favourite!!

Meh, it's just something else for people to steal badges off of and put them on their Lexus HSs so they can be "JDM."

I love the look of the latest Avensis, but I don't like this as much as the Avensis, even though the looks can be compared. It's not bad looking either though.

So this is a Toyota hybrid based off a car based off a Prius? Sounds like just a tarted up Prius to me. With a sedan body style. Sounds like the equivalent of the CC and Passat or the 5-Series and the 5-Series GT.

I wonder if they'll bring it to sedan-friendly America. Replace the current Prius, and the eco-crazies will still gobble them up, except Toyota will be able to get them to write bigger checks because it's a luxury version or something.

We're getting the Lexus version. Why should Toyota make a rebadge of a rebadge available here?

I mean, do you realize just HOW MANY Toyotas compete against each other in the Japanese Domestic Market? I've not a clue how they do it.
