Check out the main building on the right, in both pictures. I haven't found a view with the lamp posts yet, so that may be PD at work.

The main building you see is the Doge's Palace, as seen in the reference page, building #9:

Doge's Palace

Enjoy,

Um, as far as i know that is only a backdrop for the new 'Photo' feature. I doubt it will be a racetrack as there are no barriers/advertising signs etc...

It probably is (very hi-res, eh?), but San Marco is a new track, according to GameSpot, even though cars would not be allowed in the Piazza. All I am doing here is connecting that sample picture with the real buildings.

Looking at a map, it will be hard to figure out the streets, but count on them being narrow.

These pics have been out for quite some time. I don't think the pic is just showing off the the new picture feature in GT4. It will be a track/course in GT4.

Check this link for other yet seen courses of GT4. Notice the pictures that follow the list.

I have seen this page before, but I have never seen the Renault Maxi in the Piazza picture before. Have you?

As I said earlier, all I did was link the picture with the real location, nothing more. And San Marco is still a new track, even though we knew about it.

And "Shibuya" is not on that reference page, either, and this is the first I heard of that course.

Cheers,

Yes. It was the point of my post.

If we knew about it, and had pictures of it a long time ago, how can it be new?

Just too bad there are 2d people and 2d pilars in the background of that picture

That's not so important.
But if you see people in real life from that
angle they almost look the same ;)

It's new because it is in GT4 and not Prologue. It's new because we still don't know the path of the course. It's new because, until now, no-one talked about it, just showed some pictures of the square. etc...

Before yesterday, when did you see this picture of the Maxi? Over the past year, I have seen hundreds of pics, but never that one.

You're stretching a bit.

This thread has no new info in it. We, well I guess most of us, knew already this course was already in GT4 back in mid January. The picture you provided was in not one, but two different threads already.

Your thread is useless.

It seems you missed the whole point of my thread, then. Not to worry, life goes on.

Apparently. So, what the hell is the point of this thread?

So Piazza San Marco is in Venice, Austria? I'll tell you one thing. Austria is a beautiful country. Venice is a nice city as well. But the A1 Ring (Grand Prix of Austria) is simply lovely. I'm not real big on Europe as I am with Asia (mostly Japan), but the inclusion of this track will mean we'll have more great European locales to race in. Speaking of European locales, haven't heard anything about Paris. No info on the street course or rally course. I'm kind of sure the rally course will be part of the Paris-Dakar rally, if a tarmac deal isn't set up. In any event, you can check out my "E3 2004 on Gran Turismo 4" topic for more info.

Meanwhile, I'll see how some of the other news makers on GT4 is doing.

Okay, I goofed up, alright? Hell. I didn't know. Anyhow, it's still going to look like a nice city to rally in. It might be a little tougher if the lampposts make the track more like "dodge the lamp posts." If go go to my "lighting and night racing" topic, you'll know I've talked about wanting to have brighter lights and darker surroundings for night races. The light sparkles from that rally machine would light up the nightlife.

You know what I thought of? We got Citta di' Aria, Amalfi, and now Piazza San Marco... lot of ITALIAN courses! Not a bad thing. After all, Italian cars are pure performers from Alfa Romeo all the way up to... dare I say... Ferrari. It seems like a lot more European influence will be made rather than a mostly Japanese influence. And even GT4 is looking into mainland Asia. So, the world influence will be supreme, in terms of GT4.

There is nothing to say that we get to race through that plazza. It is, apparently, only one of 16 special locations where we can take "photos" of cars we want, at the angles we want, with lens effects we may want, etc.

There is a San Marco course, but I can't get an answer yet as to whether we can run through it. Cars would not normally be allowed here, so, don't worry about knocking over lamp post just yet.

Cheers,

MasterGT
