Today, I got a Sylvania 32' LCD TV:

With so much excitment, I decide to set up quick and get everything going. Unfortunately when I turn on the PS3 and play a game, the quality is Poor:ouch: Instead of sharp and clear picture, I still see those same lines that were on my other TV and the games look pixelated. I'm using Component cables since I don't have a HDMI Cable(and the TV didn't come with one either) and here's where my PS3 is connected:

And here's the other ports that are free and not taken up by the U-verse box(which is the Blue, Green and Red Cords):

I would like to know How to improve the quality. Do I have to do something in the video settings? Do I need to connect the Cords elsewhere? Exactly what do I need to do?

Have you changed the Video Output settings on the PS3. It's the first option in the "Display Settings" category.

I don't think I have.

Edit: If this helps any, heres the settings for the TV itself. They have not been tinkered with at all:

Don´t bother with the settings until you have bought a HDMI cable, they are cheap ~5 to 10 €. Don´t let the guys at the store talk you into buying an expensive one there is absolutely no difference in the picturequality if you use a 100€ or a 5€ HDMI cable..

By the way, your using composite cables not component.
Component cables have 5 wires not 3.

Until you get either component cables or an HDMI cable you will have (basically) the same picture quality.

It looks as though your U-Verse is taking up the component inputs.
If you have another set of component inputs and want to save a little bit of money then get the component cables.
Your best bet is get the HDMI cord.

Nice TV by the way. 👍

Well if you also want a better audio system you can hook up a surround sound receiver using that digital audio out port. I also checked out the TV on google and I'd recommend you to get a cheap hdmi cable. Just make sure you get a cable with the 1.3a standard as the PS3 won't make use of the 1.4 standard.

I meant change the settings on the PS3 itself not the TV.

Component cable are the red\green\blue cables which should have a red\white cable for audio.

HDMI cables are only better if you buy decent cables,i had cheap hdmi cables then when i put the Sony PS3 component cables back in they gave a better picture.

sry but that is ********, it doesn´t matter if it´s a cheap or expensive HDMI cable. Hdmi is digital it´s not like with the old analog cables where you could have bad quality because of a cheap cable.

With hdmi it looks on every cable exactly the same. 0 or 1 nothing else...

Confirming to the OP that you're not gonna see any improvement as long as you're using the yellow video cable. That's the absolute lowest quality you can use on a PS/3, and would only be exceeded in suckness if you had to use one of those old channel3/channel4 boxes to get to the TV. Get an HDMI cable, but you don't need to get the 397-dollar best there-is-on-the-planet kind.

That yellow video is composite, not component, and it carries all the video information on a single cable, and thus has a limited bandwidth and is not capable of carrying hi-def video. The other two connectors are left and right channels for audio.

Component cables, while still analog, not digital, have much higher bandwidth, carrying color information on three separate channels, and are capable of carrying very high-uality HD video. Component will have three connectors, and you still need left and right audio in addition.

HDMI carries all video and audio information (including surround sound channels) digitally from the source device to the TV. Simplest connection, but can't be handled roughly.

Like everyone else says, you don't have your ps3 hooked up to the HD inputs on your tv. You need to either buy and HDMI cable or a component cable for your ps3. HDMI is the best and easiest to use. And like one guy said buy the cheapest one you can. Price is an illusion with HDMI cables. It's all digital so it doesn't matter. The guy who said the expensive ones were better must have gotten a bad cord or something. I have used 60$ HDMI and 10$ HDMI and could tell no difference in sound or video, and I'm using a 1080p tv and HD 7.1 surround sound formats.

Thanks for all the help, guys. I meant to post earlier, but went to go see my Aunt and my Grandma since we couldn't go yesterday due to the icey closed roads. I've gotten a HDMI Cable and when I first turned on the PS3, it instantly reconized it and it definately looks better now. Thread can be closed now that this problem is solved. Thanks everyone and Happy Holidays:)👍
