Hello, I have been hearing disscussion between friends about newer honda cars with "vtech" not really haveing normal v-tech but some new form or hybrid form of v-tech. Does anyone know anything about this? If so please help me out and explain.

Well, for starters, there's no H in the term you're looking for. It's just VTEC (http://www.vtec.net).

There's an iVTEC used in some cars these days. There's also a few hybrid cars they're making that use gasoline engines in conjunction with an electric motor. Could be either of those.

And for that, I will link this funny pic that PR posted.

Perhaps they're talking about how iVTEC is continuously variable and stepless compared to the old system that is either hot or mild? iVTEC also varies the intake runner distance with a butterfly valve.

Knowing what VTEC actually DOES is highly recommended: http://autozine.kyul.net/technical_school/engine/vvt_1.htm

Okay, just to be safe here - we've already seen the pictures and had two corrections. If you want to do the "Vtech is a phone, Vtec is an engine" thing, I'm sure another similar thread will eventually come on.

I'm sorry for the misspelling, as I typed it quickly before i left for work and was not thinking. Thanks for all of the information though.
