I've put this off for too long. Played GT4 forever, got a wheel, and hated it. Got GT5. Played forever with a DS3. Still was really good. Got a wheel. It was meh. Went back to DS3. Got yet ANOTHER wheel for a bit more money. And am never returning to a DS3 again.

That said, it is a pretty big change, and the game translates to wheel near perfectly. Best investment I've put into a game since Rock Band 3. It doesn't take long to get good, and is immensly entertaining. The force feedback is simply amazing. If you ever get the chance, GET ONE!

Oh, it's a DFGT btw.

Is it better for control or just the experience?

Both, this game is brilliant with a wheel, and with the price of a dfgt as low as they are,you would be mad not to,you will love it

Just curious, what wheels did you get before?

Glad you are happy!

Both. Everything instantly improved. My times still aren't quite up to par but I'm just stating to get used to using fast cars again. I love it.

Definitely.

I got the Pelican Cobra TT wheel for PS2 and some Hori PS3 wheel for Christmas this year. No Force Feedback, no 900 degree steering and bad mounts. The reason bought the DFGT was for the shifter and 900 degree steering.

Glad you are happy!

Thanks!

I cannot speak to other wheels, as i jumped head long into getting a g27 as my first wheel.
But needless to say, the more money you can put in, the better you will get out of the game, and the more enjoyable it all is.

FFB is a necessity, for me anyways. If i turn it off it is like driving without sound.. pointless.

I am thinkin about gettin a wheel for gt5,what does dfgt stand for and who makes it?

Do your license tests over from the beginning. That is the best way for anyone to get use to a wheel.

Welcome to the family!

I've been using a G27 for about 3-4 months now and love it. Totally different game.

I've been gaming on the G25, and will migrate over to the T500RS pretty soon.

nice choice of wheel! i got my DFGT almost 3 years now, and neeeever never had a problem. So Enjoy bro!

I got a DFGT for christmas, but had trouble driving with it. But then i set the forcefeedback to 2 and suddenly i felt it was really good. Still problem with tight corners, the car just doesnt turn as with ds3 but im learning that with wheel i need to turn a bit sooner than later. The best part is if you drive 550pp cars and more, the controll is much better especially throttle and braking is better. But the brakingpoints need to be learned again...its like a new game and it takes time to adjust...and im still doing so after 1 month. But the feeling when you hit a corner right is great!!!

I have a G27.. And LOVE it.. Currently how ever the Pedals are messed up so Logitec took it back and is sending me a new one, I have been using the Remote and the game isn't even fun with the DS3, can't wait for the new one to arrive

My best tip for you is top not be afraid to be rough with the wheel. When I first got mine, I would turn extremely gentle with it, in fear of damaging it. But over a few weeks that fear went away, and as soon as I was rough with the wheel my times instantly improved. And by rough I don't mean acting stupid and smacking it yanking in it etc. Just turning harder and using alot more force against the FFB

I have a DFGT and love it. After I wear this one out, I'll probably spend the money to get a wheel with an H shifter and clutch.

Congrats OP. Enjoy.

A proper FFB wheel has been the greatest decision of my gaming life. Had no idea what I was missing.

Like I said in another thread, you might want to look into some inexpensive ways to stiffen the pedals if you feel they are too light. There are plenty of threads in the sim hardware forum. I did bungee cords and they worked great.

Also, don't forget to try a rainy night cruise on the 'Ring with all HUD off (cockpit view of course 👍)in a car of your choosing! Amazing.

I enjoy this wheel quite a bit. First track I hit was Spa. Then I went online and intentionally did Nurb lap after lap, car after car and I LOVE IT.

I got myself a 911 turbo s with the clubsport pedals about 12 months ago, very nice wheel but i'm not sure if they are still able to be purchased new.but really anything that has 900 degree support and force feedback make this and any other racing games awesome 👍

Use Slower cars with assists and work your way to the faster cars

A lot of people get a wheel, try it for a week, get frustrated and sell them. I got mine half price, brand new condition.
