Good day, I'm new to this forum & a newbie to GT5. Although I've reached level 25 in A-spec series & bought a nismo calsonic skyline as my primary race car. My problem is that I can't hear the exhaust of my car while racing hence I can't time my shifting while racing. The shift light at the bottom right of the screen is too small for me to notice.

Is there a way for me to tweak the game settings so as to enhance the exhaust sound of my car?

TIA

If you press pause during play, you can adjust sound settings. That may help.

Yep adjust them by pressing pause then go to quick options.

Or go to the main menu then go to settings and then sound settings

If you cannot hear any sound from your game, maybe check if the sound cables are connected correct to your TV. (Usually the default sound settings wouldn't disable an engine sound, so unless you played around with them before it's really weird you can't hear your engine at all).

Anyway, hope you can sort out that problem, have fun with GT5 in the future! 👍

Do you have in game music on while racing? If so, you can either turn the music volume down on the music or off completely which will help you hear the car sounds.

Tnx for the input guys. I use HDMI cable for game playing so that rules out connection problems. I've switched off gameplay music so to up the realism of the game. I've tweaked the audio settings for GT5 yet I couldn't enhance the sound of my exhaust for shifting reasons.

What's crazy is that I loose my shift timing when a car tailgates me cuz all I hear is his engine sound rather than mine

I'm planning of setting up a 5.1 soundsystem just to spread out the noise

Are you playing on an old version of the game? have you updated it?

Sounds like you need to update to the latest update they fixed that fade of your car over the driver next to you. I also agree it was very annoying

Yes I am pretty sure you are right on the money

Bingo!👍

Aaaah, the need to update my game. Hahaha

Tnx for the big help!

Big answer that helps a TON:

Audio - dynamic range.
Set it to 'large theatre'.

It completely stops your car being drowned out by others.

Try it :)
