Hi guys,

Few months ago i bought a used DFTG to try race games out on my PS3. I was hooked in a heartbeat.
Now, i want to do some serieus racing on my pc and i sold the DFTG, to get someting more decent.

My first thought was a Logitech G27 (230€).

Surfing all day long i see this promo:
a Thrustmaster TX for 270€ (normal 370). Or should i go with the T300RS ?

The Fanatec Forza CSR also crossed my mind.

I am aware that the basic pedals are not that good. Which one should i go for?:
- T3PA or Fanatec CSR Pedals ? I know the Clubsport from Fanatec are state of the art, but its a little to much for a starter.. maybe later when i am adicted to racing :)

I'm willing to spent 400-500€ for wheel and pedals. Shifter can wait

All thaughts and ideas are welcome

thanks

T300RS is the best wheel you mentioned, (the TX is similar but the stock rim is a little cheesy, and the G27 and Forza CSR are older wheels and not in the same class really) and pedal wise, the stock T300 pedals aren't THAT bad, I'd say mod them and use them until you are ready to buy a good set. Honestly, the Clubsport Pedals v2 are worth the money.

I run an older version of that setup (T500RS + CSPv1) and really like it.

Thanks Gunstar for the input..

As the TX was 100€ cheaper with the promo, i thaught on buying that one with the T3PA or the T3PA pro pedals.
Is there any difference between the T300 and T300 RS (not fan of the PS butoms on it)?

There are two models of the T300: the RS (with playstation button layout) and the GTE (with a replica Ferrari 458GTE rim). They are otherwise identical.

I own both rims and prefer the RS layout for any console or console-derived games. If you are never going to need that capability then the GTE rim is the better option. Both rims are identical in size and have identical shifter paddles.

In terms of pricing I've seen T300RS for around €290-300 recently, so the TX is a little cheaper but not "full cost of an extra rim" cheaper, hence most people stating that the T300 is the better deal due to the rim.

[[Note that the TX rim is lighter and more plastic than either T300 rim. Some people really like the feel from that lightness, others hate it being so plastic and not sturdy. The T300 rims are very solid. You can buy the 458GTE rim separately at around €90, but that feels like a shame with the new TM-28 leather rim (same size, shape and button layout) for €150. So the risk when buying the TX is that you end up spending way more than a T300 because you go for leather instead of rubber rim]]

I personally have no issues with the rubber, it feels decent. I have used Fanatec alcantara, Logitech leather, Thrustmaster rubber and Logitech plastic rims and in the end only the plastic feels bad, the other three are all fine.....

The T300/TX pedals are useable. Better than DFGT ones, but that's not saying much. If you want to be able to brake nervous race cars with ABS disabled you will find it hard using the DFGT or T300 pedals. I vastly prefer the T3PA-Pro in comparison.

Putting this together: if you want a decent modern belt-driven wheel, the choice is really between T300+T3PA(-Pro) or TX+T3PA(-Pro)+(maybe)rim.

Yes, the G27 or Fanatec GT2+CSR options are cheaper, but I can say from experience that they are clearly less capable. For the money, though, the G27 is a great and complete package.

Great! Nice info

Ordered this morning the Thrustmaster T300.
I just picked up a nice mod for the pedals using RC shocks. I'll give that a shot as starter.
If that doesn't work out, i'll go for the T3PA-Pro
