Newbie- Where is the help + a couple of questions!?

Hi all,

I know this is going to be in the wrong place but i'm extremely new to this.

1st I searched the forums for a 'help' section...I couldn't find one? so I have a couple of questions.

1. How/where do I switch to manual gearbox as opposed to automatic?
2. I have the PS2 pluged into a widescreen TV which has 6.1 pro logic, as this is my first time with PS2 can I hook the sound system up to the game, if i can I assume I need a lead of sorts?? any info?

3. Probably wise if someone tells me where to ask these sort of questions. :)
 
Actually, this is probably where I would have posted it...BUT there is a FAQ section at the top of the thread list but it's ok, let the moderators tell you where or a more experienced member when it comes to threads...I know enough about GRAN TURISMO to still be useful though:D
In fact I think you put this thread in the right place:)
To switch to Manual you need to go to Options Menu before a race or at the HOME...
Go to RACE at the Options Menu and it should have an AT sign,go to that and switch to MT, which is manual...
Rember,cartouche, that it will stay on Manual until you go back and set it back to AT :)

And about the sound system, I have mine connected to my HUGE STEREO :D:D:D
On your PS2 you have a cord that has three wires, one with a yellow connector at the end, one with a red connector , and one with white one...
I'm not sure how your system EXACTLY is but this is how I have mine setup...
I connect the YELLOW(which in the one for the VIDEO) one into the T.V.
I then connect the RED AND WHITE(which are the two AUDIO ones) in to my stereo...
My stereo has the plug-ins I need and if your system is like mine, it should be color coded to tell you where to put the red and white one :)

Maybe someone else has EXACTLY what you have...

if you want any decent sound out of your PS2 you will need to buy a fiber optic cable - so long as your amp has an optical in jack. For best picture, use component or s-video depending on what your tv has.

The best place to ask your questions would be in the "search" function - all your questions have already been answered. They may not be in a FAQ, but they are still here. For example, I searched for "surround sound" and got this thread:
