The rarity on mygranturismo is a indicator how often people has it in their garage.
It is up to you to decide if that's because nobody can find the car or that nobody wants the car.

I had a sneaking suspicion that's what it meant with the rarity rating. From my experience, it has a lot to do with how hard it is to find the car. Sometimes it takes a matter of hours for a particular car to appear then reappear, other times I don't see a particular model on there for days or even weeks.

I will update the post in a few hours when I log on to GT5 with the colors. I believe one of the cars is painted a rare color, no sure which one though. So it is a nice bonus for whoever wants to trade.
