-> It looks good, but I miss that little spoiler on the past-gen model:

Inside Line
Any speculation about the styling of the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V can now be laid to rest thanks to our exclusive spy photos. Snagged during a photo shoot of the upcoming Cadillac super sedan, these shots reveal a CTS V-Series with a dramatically revised front end, bigger wheels and tires and a few modest changes out back.

Gone is the egg-crate grille that gives the standard CTS such a distinctive look up front. In its place is a two-piece trapezoidal mesh grille much like the setup on the original CTS-V. We suspect the mesh design does a better job of feeding fresh air to the engine, as Cadillac has boasted about borrowing the design of the standard CTS's grille from the Sixteen concept.

Although the airdam on the CTS-V is certainly aggressive, it doesn't appear as though it's much lower to the ground when compared side by side with that of the standard CTS. This could be due to the fact that there's no bump strip at the bottom of this prototype piece, a detail that could be added to the production cars.

The shape of the airdam is continued all the way around the car by extended rocker sills and a reshaped rear fascia. It's more subtle than we expected, although the car already has fairly aggressive bodywork to begin with. Even the hood bulge is pretty sedate, as it blends in perfectly with the rest of the original hood creases.

Of course, the big question still remains: What's under that hood? Our best sources have been telling us to expect a normally aspirated LS7 V8, but a recent interview with Cadillac General Manager Jim Taylor seems to confirm the other most talked-about option — a supercharged 6.2-liter V8. Either way, the 2009 CTS-V will have roughly 525 horsepower, a figure that will put it slightly ahead of direct competitors like the Audi S6, BMW M5 and Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG.

Taylor also confirms that the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V will offer the choice of a manual or automatic transmission — both six-speeds. This should help broaden the appeal of the CTS-V, which has been a sales disappointment so far. Look for the official unveil of the 2009 Cadillac CTS-V at the 2008 Detroit Auto Show in January.

^ It really looks mean, but it looks soft compared to the last CTS-V. :indiff:

It needs the massive Grille, I think. It doesn't look right in the front, but it's not bad.

Words cannot describe how incredibly better looking the front of that car is compared to the normal CTS. Lower grill/airdam is a little weird, though.

CTS-V: EEEEEEEK! *Covers self*

((Sorry, I had to do that. You were Inviting me to!))

It does look good, if a bit wedge-shaped. and, what's this, 525HP? Good lord, this thing's gonna fly...

Seeing as the normal CTS is so damn ugly this is obviously better, but then again that's not saying much.

I rather like it, I hope it's a good performer though. GM needs this car to show that is actually means business instead of just being loud and flashy. Also I hope they fixed the traction issue the previous one had. I remember being with a friend of mine in his dad's CTS-V and that thing not wanting to hook up under normal driving in the rain.

I find your opinion troubleing. :odd:

Whatever.

This car is gonna be awesome. :D:tup:

So now its going after M5's and E63's? I thought the CTV is a small sedan that would compete with M3's and RS4's?

It's better than the current standard CTS, I'll give it that, although that's not saying much. The previous CTS-V is still the best looking CTS ever. This one is like they took the 2005 CTS-V and smeared the clay in a hot room. It looks all sorts of slab-sided.

At least the wasp-beak grille is gone. I can see what they wanted to do with the front end (kind of AMG-like, but lamer), but it needs much wider fender flares and a more aggressive back end. Actually, any aggression in the back end would be nice.

Better, but too bland.

Its surprisingly good-looking, and with that extra power, it shouldn't have much of a problem putting the C63 and M3 Sedan to shame. Given that its a better competitor to the M5 and the RS6 however, I'm very interested to see that performance comparison as well.

This one truly is a kick-ass-Cadillac then!

There's a lot of nice details there, but the overall design used to combine them all looks kind of messy. Maybe it just needs to be black, that'd be better...

I'll wait and see about its performance. The first one was hyped up as a german killer and never delivered, GM's just hoping that horsepower figures alone will win it for them. The article calls the S6 a direct competitor, which seems strange to me. Are they forgetting about the RS6, which is sounding like a pretty OTT car? TBH though, I have no idea about the pricing of the S6/RS6 vs the M5 or E63...

-> After seeing that and driven the pre-gen CTS-V, I'd rather wait for the more affordable G8 GXP (aka. the US HSV) in terms of GM fan-boyism. ;)

-> This car would likely go into the USD$65K-70K atmosphere, as the CTS FE3 already expensive as it is. I'd take either the next RS4 or better yet, the GT-R. :indiff:

I like the front end, but the rear just looks weird. Side view is ok as well. But I like the old-gen looks better 👎

Overall it looks good and is undoubtedly an improvement over the original, but the rear is far too large for both ends of the vehicle to look comfortably in proportion.

I've been a Cadillac hater for the longest. While still not particulary fond of Caddy, this Caddy looks very nice. The front of the car sticks out to me the most. It should be a wicked car for those who love their Cadillacs.

Am I the only one that thinks the body kit at the front and rear is a little too much and would rather go for the regular CTS in terms of looks?

I don't find your position disagreeable whatsoever Philly, but I'd like to see the car in person before I make any final decision.

I sort of like it, but it looks really awkward from some of the angles. It could be a little cleaner.

wow, you guys are crazy. this is an improvement over the last ctsv. oh well, to each his own! :D
