yes, i've read all the stickys, yes, i've searched. but i'd like to hear from you guys how you go through a drift. like step by step, every part of the way, in great detail. i never thought i'd pay attention to drifiting in the game, but i tried it last night for a few hours and started to get the hang of it. once you get a succesful one its kind of addicting. 98% of the time i end up spinning out or over countersteer so i kep the whip back effect.

i tried both the AE86, and an FD and have been having better results with the FD. the way i do it is to brake and give a slight turn left, then gas and turn hard right into a right turn. once the tail comes out i let off the gas and try and keep control over the drift, but most of the time the rear keeps comming around and i end up spining out. if not that, then the underdteer whip will happen. i pulled off a couple really nice ones, but trying to re create them is hard, only like 2% of my drifts are successful.

a step by step procedure of how you do it would be helpful, also what the car should be feeling like durring each part.

thanks.

pr0gress dont feel that bad about drifting...someone gave me good settings and i have the smae problems you do IMO someone is just going to tell you to practice and get alot of seat time with a car...i moved to the Slieghty 98' seems to be doing better well good luck drifting!

dont just suddenly let off the gas. doing so throws off the balance. if the tail starts to come around too much try shifting into a higher gear to interrupt power delivery for a second. that means drive manual not automatic.

also, dont just counter steer all the way... do it in small incraments (sp ?), and do it smoothly.

smoothness is the key.

yeah i tried that also and the car either 1.) pushs so hard i can turn (it slides straight out into the grass) or 2.) the car spins out everytime... slo car u got yahoo? IM me keirohabiki i can show u my webcam and you can tell me what im doing wrong >.> i wish someone would

-First, you need to check some stuff like the settings depot, and that guide from Swift and TankSpanker, wich apparently you already did
-Second, you need to buy the parts needed for your car, and before addapting the settings, save the original settings (wich I think you've past already, but in GREAT detail)
-Third, you must use manual

I don't know if you've read the different techniques, but let's say feinting cause that's just about the only good starting method there is.
-When you approach your first corner, you need to slow down very early in the gear used to go thrue the corner and stay in the middle of the track.
-Then, before the actual turn, swing to the outside and swing back into the corner, on the beginning. You have to loose traction if done correctly just on the beginning of the corner
- You will spin and now gradually build up your angle and countersteer and compare it with the line you wanna go thrue, this is very important because when starting, you probably be looking to the inside of a corner rather than the angles
- Now you just have to make your way thrue the corner, while countesteering, this just depends on the type of turn
-Then I don't know the best way to exit the drift, just experiment:tup:

*If another turn follows directly to the opposite direction, hold the drift untill the middle and swing back to the drift direction needed for that turn

Try to post a vid. it's much more helpfull:tup::)

And just keep practicing, that's REALLY about the main thing in drifting

damn this is frustrating. when i get into a drift it feels like the force feed back on the wheel is making it naturaly counter steer, but it counter steers too much. so instead of counter steering myself, should i be fighting the counter steer and pushing the other way?

Try to drift a stock car, it has less power, but great control like the Mazda RX-7 FD3S (Their suspension are marvelous, very good balance, very light, rotary engine enough to drift). You should try stock car first because if you tune your cars, you don't know why it has many problems (such as gear ratios, all LSD and suspension). I wish you good luck, and you need master the track first too.

Good luck :)!

Edit : Don't let the forcefeedback do the work, try to control your sterring works and throttle works (sorry i don't know how to spell throttle). Pratice the spot of the sterring that can drift.

next time, could you try to make the topic title a bit more relevent to what you are asking/stating?

as for drifting....just watch videos. they can help a lot, whether real life or in game. after you have basic theory down pat, all that's left is to utilize it, and (as everyone has already said) practice practice practice.

If you pushed the other way you would go the other way=bad.

Drifting is like riding a bike. You can't tell someone exactly how to balance themselves on a bicycle. All you can do is give them pointers, take the training wheels off(all driving aids) and let them try it. Sure, they're going to scratch up there knees and elbows, but that's part of learning the skill of riding a bicycle.

To ask someone for a complete detailed step by step is an extremely hard thing to deliver. With your practicing, find out the parts that are causing you the most trouble, then ask about those sections. It's impossible to coach you through an entire drift over an internet forum.

Good luck!

Just DO NOT counter steer a lot. Half the time I drift I will do a feint then tap the brakes to get the rear end out. Then I will let the car into a slide and then start counter steering. Once you know the drift is going to end you have to stop countersteering and try and have the wheel/controller straight by exit or you will snap spin.

Took me a couple days to get used to the nasty snap spins from too much countersteering but I've got the basics down for right now. No where near as good as I was in GT3 but I drifted on that physics system for like 2 years..

i gave the amuse s2000 r1 a try, stock w/oil change, n1 tires and i was able to do some nice drifts with that, and more consistantly. it just seemed to get into the drift more easily, in the other cars i was kicking the rear out too much which would make it come all the way around. with the 2000 it seemed to get right into the right position, then i also started to get the feel of comming out of the drift with it. some more practice with this one will be good, i'm on the right track now.

And the force feedback?? How is that, it's a bit getting used to I think but just try to COUNTER the AUTOMATIC countersteering, just as steady as normal countersteering...........egh.......if you know what I mean 👍

yeah i know what you mean, thats what i was tryin to get at in a post a couple above. but yeah, when the tail comes out to the right angle you don't need to countersteer too much, which makes getting it back in line for the exit easier. my problem with the other cars was getting the back end out too far

Good to hear, now post a vid. pleaze next:D, most of the n00b's around here don't post any vids. whatsoever, I WANT VIDS. OF YOUR PROGRESS, pr0gress:lol:
