Toyota unveils Lexus LF-Sh premium hybrid sedan concept

Toyota recently unveiled its Lexus LF-Sh premium hybrid sedan concept at the Tokyo Motor Show.

Lexus LF-Sh concept car has a sleek body accompanied by performance-oriented V-8 engine mated to a gas-electric motor system. The hybrid powertrain is capable of providing all-wheel drive. The concept LF-Sh is 199.2 inches long, with a 116.9-inch wheelbase-roughly two inches and one inch longer than the current LS 430.

Toyota is said to be working on a new transmission with seven speeds for the production version of the LF-Sh, along with a lane-departure warning system and an updated version of its night-vision system.

Lexus LF-Sh has a sporty yet dignified look, with a squared-off tail. It is expected to cost over 10 million yen (about $86,000). The concept vehicle provides a glimpse of the future vehicles.

I've always wished Lexus LS had AWD(not that I could afford it). By looking at the LF-Sh concept car, not only it will probably have an AWD system, it might have a hybrid engine!. Here are some pics from automobilemag.com:

Looks pretty good, I think. I can't wait to see the production version. :)

The car's profile and rear quarter reminds me of the current BMW 5-series. Both cars have the line that continues from the windows/c-pillar to the rear lights. Same goes for the wheel-arches. They both scream 5-series.

It is however not a bad thing in my book. The overall look of the car is well-executed, if maybe a bit too conservative for my tastes.

Just about to say the exact same thing! it looks just like the 5-series BMW, still a nice looking car though!

I don't wanna copy you guys, but I was thinking the same thing. :p I got the impression BMW went too far with their design, and Lexus didn't take it far enough, I hope that make sense. Don't get me wrong, I love bimmers and I still think 5 looks good(just not as good as the last gen :D).

Yeah that makes sense, i kinda thought the BMW was nicer though - i know what you mean with the last model 5-series, is one of my favourite cars! + the M5 version is just stunning!

The rear may whisper "Beemer", but the front end still screams "Camry". A bit conservative, but at least the design flows very well. Will probably be a hit with its target demographic.

I like it. Must be getting old.

Nice!

It's a shame Lexus don't have the prestige factor that Audi and BMW and such like have. They'd have a large share of the market if they did.

Who's the Designer? It's like he's Obi-Wan, whereas Bangle is stupid Anakin.

Totally awesome design. I bet BMW are smacking themselves for not snatching this guy up. 5-series killer.

Shame on lexus. How could they just go and copy the bmw 5 series like that. Lexus is going downhill and fast. They cant even design their own products.

You're all right. Its exactly like a BMW with a Camry grill. It still looks undeniably Japanese however, its not quite as classy as what the Germans can do. Its mainly the cheap (Toyota-ey) looking grill and bad taste wheels that ruin it. But if they fixed these things it WOULD look exactly like a Beemer. Funny that.

No way. I think Lexus is probably one of the most profitable and well directed luxury automakers around. Lexus got their start by copying Germans, why do you think they were such a hit? ;)

I used to like lexus. But when they come out with boring stuff like this I ould always go for the german counterpart.

But you could afford the japanese version.

But if it were to happen, bang goes your wallet.

:odd: Lexus has always made boring cars.
They are a Toyota subsidiary, after all.

I like most Lexus (Lexi?...you know more then one Lexus) and this doesn't look terriable. Kinda a cross between a Toyota Solara and a M5 but I'll take one.
