NFS: Payback wrap editor question

I can figure out that the + bar is number of layers (although why just an amount bar rather than a number?) but what is the A bar below it? Was there an alpha masking option that was removed from the editor? It's prolly something really obvious...

"A" is for unique text layers, that is, you type HELLO it adds 1, but if you clone it, it only adds 1 to the overall layers bar.
If you add "WORLD" it adds 1 to the text bar.
And I think it's amount bars and not numbers because the max limit may differ between platform, my best guess :)

Thank you, that makes sense. Since in every graphics program A stands for alpha channel, I had a bit of tunnel vision there.
