Now that the PC mods are trickling in, I know a lot of GTPLANET peeps will be wanting to try the game on PC (Like me!)...

So how about a PC RIG THREAD!

Please post your recommended PC specs, Pics, discussions on PC settings and parts to maximize your gaming experience or even minimize your rig costs!

To start off, the minimum system requirements posted on the EA Support site is given below:

If you want to play Need for Speed Shift on your PC, you need a system that meets or exceeds these minimum system requirements:
OS: Windows XP (Service Pack 3) or Windows Vista (Service Pack 1)/Windows 7

Memory: XP - 1 GB RAM, Vista/Windows 7 - 1.5 GB RAM
Hard Drive space: 6 GB
DVD Drive: 8X
Video Card: min. 256 MB Video Card wtih support for Pixel Shader 3.0*
Sound Card: DirectX 9.0c compatible
Online Multiplayer: Internet Connection, 512 Kbps or faster connection

I've played the game on my PC mostly, which is an e6600 @ stock (2.4GHz), 8800GTS 320MB at stock, 2gb DDR2 667MHz RAM running Windows 7 32 bit RC. I can run with almost everything maxed, except no AA and maybe turn down 1 or 2 settings to "medium". Runs pretty smooth, get a couple of slowdowns though.

Also play it on my mate's PC which lives at my place, it has an E8400 @ stock (3GHz I believe), 512mb 4870, 2GB DDR3 1333MHz ram (or maybe 1066MHz, dont remember), running windows XP. On his PC it runs 100% smoothly with all settings maxed out, though AA doesn't appear to work (even if I crank it up, it doesn't look like it's working at all). I'm sure it could handle high levels of AA.

If you were buying a PC to play this game I'd say you're crazy to buy a PC to only play this game :P But if you were building a gaming PC in general and want to play this game, I'd say a 512mb 4850, 2gb ram and almost any new CPU will see you playing it great. You could save yourself some money and get worse, but you may have to start lowering settings to make it play well, though almost any current PC with a semi-gaming graphics card will play it better than a console :P

Not really buying a PC just for this game. I'm more like maximizing my funds for this. hahaha! I have an outdated PC which is enough for me to enjoy LFS and rFactor (think Nvidia 7200 AGP) and a PS3, which I use for most of my other gaming needs.

On my PC, even GTR2 is a crawl on moderate settings. But the best racers have always been on PC. It's just that ever since Shift came and it won't work on mine and since this is GTPlanet, it'd be fair to assume most peeps will be in the same mindset.

But I'm really not into building a Crysis/FarCry 2 or whatever the benchmark is to get the most out of PC gaming these days. hehehe... But I guess you can call me crazy if I just want a rig to maximize Shift. hahaha! :dopey:

Right now a rig which will run Shift on 60fps with all the bells and whistles will be my target...

I run NFS Shift at 1920x1080 @ 60Hz with 8x AA and 8x AF. Everything is set to High, except motion blur which is set to Medium. Everything runs smooth as silk, except when things get really hectic on the track.

Specs -

Intel Core i7 920
ASUS P6T Motherboard
6GB DDR3 1600MHz
GeForce 285 GTX

This is what I am aiming for:
Intel Core i7 920 (Overclocking)
Motherboard still not sure yet
12gb DDR3
ATI HD5870

It should be under $1000 dollars

I'm running an:

Intel Core2Duo E6600 (2.47GHz or something like that)
Gigabyte something (It was changed recently because my old one was faulty)
4G DDR2 RAM
XFX GeForce 9600GT

It runs the game beautifully with nearly everything on max, only the odd lag spike when something starts in the background usually

Duocore E8500 @ 3.5ghz (OC)
Nvidia 9800 GTX 1 gb RAM
4 GB RAM
G25

The game is magnificent @1650x1080 AAx4 x16Aniso 50-60 FPS constant
everything on max

No blur in option - no bloom (mod)... to look more like GT

I'd be surprised if you can get that for under $1000 ;) Not unless you wait a while for parts to come down in price. The card and mobo would be about $650. That much DDR3 ram would probably be around $200, so that only leaves $150 to get a mobo, case, power supply and any peripherals you need (hard drive, DVD drive, etc).

I ran it at 1920x1080 before on -
AMD Phenom II X2 550 BE @stock speeds
4 GB DDR2 RAM
HIS 512 mb HD4850
Everything maxed except AA on 2, had a few slow downs at the beginning and during pile-ups, but still quite playable

Recently acquired a Phenom II X4 955 BE, have yet to try NFS Shift on it though since my DFGT's out on a warranty claim for 4 weeks+

G25

I've seen the no blur mod, where can I get the no bloom mod? I hate over done bloom/HDR, I'd love to be able to get rid of it.

Playing on PC too. My PC specs are in my sig at the bottom.

All settings at max except MSAA which is X2 and anisotropic filtering which is X4, 1080p, V-sync on and generally 60fps but will drop on certain races at certain circuits to around 45 (15 cars on track etc). Using a 360 wireless controller.

I must say the reflections on the cars are pretty good. You can see the other car quite clearly.

For those with ATi cards, how does the game play? I have heard there are some issues with them and Shift.
