Gameplay:

The gameplay of NFS:U, was not the best and not the worst. This game is very addicting! I played it non-stop until race 71. At that point, I was basically tired of the same old stuff. The bodykits, and other underground accessories add another level of gameplay.

Graphics:

The graphics in NFS:U where not astounding, but where pretty good. The best part is when you hit nitrous and the screen changes too show speed. It's a unique addition to the game. Overrall the graphics where good.

Sound:

The sound in NFS:U was not all that great, I didn't hear a particular difference when adding different modifications but that might just be me. I love the way you hear the clutch when shifting gears, it's really interesting.

The bottom line:

Well, I think EA has done really well in this game. I'm giving it a 6.5/10, it can be better. But it's the first street racing simulator I've played. It's worth a rent and just maybe a buy.

I agree with you on many points there supra.

A couple of my own,

Its VERY addictive - I think I played in every single chance I could till about 70 or 80 races in. It nearly became more addictive than GT but I wouldnt return to do any of the races again in NFS. Its got an instant addictive feel to it but not a "I'll go back and start again" feel.

Also it cheats - I hate games that cheat on you. For instance you are racing with three other cars, say for example they all crash head on into a building and you carry on flying round the circuit. They will all become SUPER fast and catch you up in no time, when you havent crashed slowed down etc..

This also happens if you crash, the little triangles seem to slow down and wait for you.

And another thing is that the game will almost always put a car smack in-front of you around a bend or corner so you have no chance whatsoever of avoiding it.

It seems to me like the game has been created so you have to play the same race over and over and over.

But it is a good game overall, apart from those bits mentioned above !!!

I could not agree with you more BigJames. This game at the harder difficulty levels was unbearable. The catchup logic was a BIG miss for me. I loved just about everything in NFS:U, but using that catchup logic in place of a more solid AI is, in a way, inexcusable.

I'm of the opinion that if the computer let's their car crash, then it should put them out of the running. But since that logic works both ways, I can see the design decisions behind (I just don't have to like them).

Aside from that quirk, the PS2 to PS2 or PC online mode is a boon for gamers looking for a real challenge. As for me, I've had many sessions (some lasting 2 hours straight) of multiplayer drag racing. It's so simple even non-gamers can get into it and since it's usually reaction and timing that get you to the finish line first, it serves as an equalizer between hardcore and casual gamers.

I thought it was one of the worst racing games i've played in a long time but it was so addiccting i couldn't put it down. but if you buy it you may want to buy a couple of xtra controllers cause it gets frustraiting and i allready broke 2 controlers

I know what you mean Nism0. The game can be frustrating - and has probably been the cause many broken controllers. I almost smashed my keyboard...and luckily didn't cause I don't want to try an replace it.

But in all honesty, I have to give them credit (the developers of this game). They are on the right track there - all they have to do is feed off the addicting bits and seriously work on the driving physics AND above all, the very cheap AI.

The drag mode is great, IMO. The circuit and sprint modes are cool (save for the AI). The drift mode is a welcome sight, but they really have to work on the point system. The "drifts" that I did to get into the top rankings usually did not resemble exhibition quality drifting.
